Isabeli Fontana, Natasha Poly Cover Vogue China March 2012

We all love a good model cover. Nonetheless, Vogue China’s March 2012 Cover is so poor, I’d rather see a celebrity cover rather of it any day! Besides, Vogue China doesn’t care significantly about becoming original – a person need to have heard that we’d love to see a model on the cover of Vogue. So they decided to double the pleasure (we do love Isabeli Fontana and Natasha Poly, but this photo is tasteless)! (can you please stop, Vogue China? Use your imagination, fashion is all about creativity, not repetition!)

Katy Perry Gets the Justin Bieber Treatment

Deadline‘s reporting that Katy Perry will star in a 3D movie about her life.

Though they call it a feature, it sounds more like a documentary in the vein of Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never. Perry was filmed with 3D cameras while on tour last year and the movie will cover her childhood—her strict religious background is well documented—and her rapid rise to pop fame. The movie’s set to come out this summer.

Of course, the best part will be the press tour on which Perry will embark to promote the movie.  Though her taste has evolved, it’s still unpredictable and oh-so-fun to watch.  Aside from the Manish Arora and Jean Charles de Castelbajac she’s bound to throw on for interviews and late night talk shows, we’re hoping she’ll turn toward couture (making a July release ideal!).  The one shouldered overall-like thing at left, from Givenchy’s winter couture collection, would be a great place to start.  And Valli’s pink floral number?  It’s perfectly Perry.

Alexander Wang‘s ‘image pieces’ get better with each passing season. For spring, he enlisted Die Antwoord, the South African hip-hop duo, to star in two exclusive videos wearing T by Alex Wang. The print component of the new campaign was shot in New York by Daniel Jackson and the videos (one of which is a behind-the-scenes look) will air on MTV later this month. Meanwhile, Liya Kebede stars in his ready-to-wear video, which also shows off an exclusive take on Azealia Banks’ “212.” Click through to watch the Die Antwoord video!

Dree Hemingway Designs for Sandro

Last month, Sandro sent out invitations to their New York Fashion Week party, in honor of the Bleecker Street store that opened late final year.  Upon RSVP, there was mention of Dree Hemingway.

Turns out the model (and well-known literary spawn) has developed a ten piece capsule collection for the French brand. The boho collection was inspired by Hemingway’s youth, spent in Idaho, and—from the t-shirt at left—looks extremely Isabel Marant-like.  Look for the collection in retailers this spring.

Meanwhile, Hemingway’s also been tapped to host a dinner in honor of Dannijo alongside ManRepeller’s Leandra Medine as a kick off to New York Fashion Week.  Wonder if we’ll see her on any runways this season?

Spring & Clifton for Reformation

Last summer, in Montauk, Reformation designer Yael Aflalo was hanging out with Spring &amp Clifton designer Michelle Zacks and the two discovered a mutual enjoy of some thing unlikely: Bajas.

Both hail from California, exactly where they’d grown up watching surfers hop out of the water and throw Bajas over their board shorts.  The colorful toppers, which hail from south of the border, may be enjoyable to appear at but they’re far from flattering.  Enter Reformation.  The Lower East Side brand’s currently mastered the art of re-operating fabric, so why not this 1?  Together, Aflalo and Zacks paired Baja fabric with buttery leather for a capsule collection of hot pants, mini skirts and leather paneled jackets starting at a really affordable $ 105.

“We took Michele’s idea of carrying out bajas and fit them with zippers so they’re not boxy and weird they’re genuinely comfortable [and] all various simply because they are all repurposed,” said Reformation’s Maria Matis.  You can snag the pieces at Reformation’s (newly expanded) boutique at 156 Ludlow Street, or on the web!

She’s wearing a twill cap sleeve dress by Barbara Tfank, a designer she’s worn numerous instances ahead of. One more notable SOTU fashion moment: Hilary Clinton’s headband. We saw them emerge as a trend at the Golden Globes, but Hil’s been rocking them for years.

Christian Siriano designing wedding dresses for Nordstrom

Christian Siriano Bridal Christian Siriano designing wedding dresses for Nordstrom

The most surprising thing about the news that Christian Siriano designing a line of wedding dresses is that he wasn’t currently undertaking bridal!

The Project Runway alum tweeted: “Excited to announce we are undertaking an exclusive bridal collection for Nordstrom. Here’s the extremely initial one particular, more to come!” with the above picture. This seems like a natural pairing taking into consideration Siriano’s begin as a freelance bridal designer in New York, as properly has his reputation for gorgeous, daring formalwear.

The dress he released a photo of is fairly fairly, but I’m hoping there some more dramatic dresses up the designer’s sleeve. Possibly something much more along the lines of these celebrity wedding dresses he sketched for Brides in 2009.

Lisa Marie Fernandez’s Chanel Diary

This last Friday, I jetted off to Las Vegas with Chanel for the opening of their exhibition Numéros Privés.

They hosted an incredible weekend of couture and cocktails at Wynn Las Vegas, flying about 200 people out there to experience their multiple-roomed Chanel world. Friday night started off with a cocktail reception followed by dinner and a performance by the amazing Imelda May.

I got to hang out, shop and dine with friends including Poppy Delevigne, Dree Hemingway, Nicola Vassell and China Chow—but it wouldn’t have been Vegas without the spin of a roulette wheel! It was, needless to say, a great way to start off 2012.
