#NYFW Jason Wu Fall 2012

Jason Wu veered from his feminine frills Friday afternoon with a Fall 2012 collection inspired by Chinese imagery and the country’s Qing dynasty. Models marched down the runway in Mao’s military-influenced wares. Airy tulle and chiffon were replaced with more severe fabrics and structured silhouettes. It was a harsh twist for the lighthearted designer, but we admire his range of talent. Red – the color of luck and good fortune – dominated. And if Wu’s meteoric trajectory was in any way guided by the hue, we suspect women everywhere will be clad in crimson.
