Whitney Port To Show Her Fashion Line, Whitney Eve, at New York Fashion Week!

Whitney Port is undeniably the biggest achievement story from ‘The Hills’. Thanks to the beauty of reality Television, we’ve noticed her career soar from humble beginnings as a fashion intern with Lauren Conrad at Teen Vogue. Then Whitney went on to function for the black-clothes-wearing-notoriously-scary Kelly Cutrone at New York PR giant People’s Revolution, THEN onto Diane Von Furstenberg with the stunning Olivia Palermo, all documented by two compelling seasons of ‘The City’, natch. And the latest installment in Whitter’s good results story is the news that she will be showing her own fashion line, Whitney Eve, at New York Fashion Week next month. We. Cannot. Wait. February 15th is in the diary, Miss Port!
Because its launch in 2009, Whitney Eve collections have shown at Newgen at Miami Fashion Week, but this season, she’ll be showing with the large guns, such as Marc Jacobs and Calvin Klein, at the Lincoln Centre in Manhattan. Being such an impeccably-styled lady herself, we anticipate great issues from the show. For previous Spring/Summer collections, we’ve been treated to pretty sun dresses and feminine short suits, but for Autumn/Winter 2012, we’re eager to see what she’s got in shop for her feminine line.
As for the present Whitney Eve collection, it really is inspired by a trip the designer took to Liberia and is available online at Quite . So why not get in the WE mood with our top shopping picks below…

Bridget Foley on Why New York Fashion Week Has Gotten Out of Hand and How To Fix It

While the endless Milan/New York fashion week show dates debate has, for the most part, been one severe headache for the fashion market, there is at least one very good thing to have come out of it: It’s opened up a discussion about regardless of whether or not the current show system is still functional.
The most recent individual to weigh in on the matter is WWD‘s Bridget Foley, who wrote a small essay on the topic in today’s paper. Foley appears to agree with CFDA President Diane Von Furstenberg’s assertion that “New York, London, Milan and Paris are not four separate, independent entities but 1 lengthy fashion train with 4 stops,” and as a result they require to compromise and remain unified. But, Foley adds, that may possibly be sort of besides the point. “Maybe…the dates dilemma merely obscures the real problem…” she wrote, “Maybe the reality of today’s market no longer jibes with the as soon as tidy flow of shows from city to city.”
She notes that more than the past couple of years, as the Fashion Weeks dotted across the globe have grown and grown, there’s been a collective moan that the whole calendar is just too long–something we can absolutely attest to. And of course the most “egregiously lengthy run” belongs to New York, a fact that wasn’t missed by the Italians, when the head of their Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana Mario Boselli told WWD, “Perhaps the only way out would be for the Americans to minimize their fashion week to seven days, as nine days is too lengthy.”
Sketched by Amy Smilovic of Tibi

I was just opening my mail when I found three beautifully sketched cards by Tibi designer, Amy Smilovic.
I’m extremely touched that the designer has sketched looks from my New York Fashion Week adventures.
Rodarte Curate A Magazine Featuring Elle Fanning – and Dress Rooney Mara!

As if Rodarte sisters Laura and Kate Mulleavy weren’t busy sufficient (New York Fashion Week is less than two months away, men and women!), they’ve teamed up with biannual Belgian publication, A MAGAZINE, to curate an entire concern full of pure unadulterated Rodarte-ness! They’re following in the footsteps of other fashion designer-turned-curators like Proenza Schouler, Riccardo Tisci and Giambattista Valli who have stepped up to the magazine’s mantle for previous issues.

The magazine is inspired by their home state of California (as are a lot of of their collections), with every little thing from Santa Cruz’s well-known beaches to grizzly bears, and all of their favourite men and women and snippets of Cali history. It’s brimming with photography, art, individual stories and evocative shoots – two of which we’re rather excited about. A-list Rodarte super-fans Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning have stepped in as the models! Naturally, the girls are modelling some of the finest Rodarte pieces available – couture S/S’12 for Miss Fanning (a collection that has now been gifted to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art) and a extremely snuggly ‘Amish’ quilt motif sweater from A/W’11 for Dunst.
