New Fashion Site Motilo Launches with this COOL Multi-lingual Video!
08 November 2011 at 12:33

A new name to learn today, boys and girls – Motilo! It has already launched in beta and soon you and your friends will be able to register to this super-dooper site which, as far as we can work out, is basically like Facebook meets net-a-porter! Not only can you buy wicked womenswear from Swedish high street label Cos to high end houses like Gucci and Lanvin, as well as beauty products from Benefit to Tom Ford – BUT! You can get involved in video and text chat with your friends and top stylists, like Anna Dello Russo are on there to dole out advice (yep, you read that correctly, ANNA DELLO RUSSO! (Is it just me, or would you be a teeny bit intimidated to have your outfit critiqued by such a doyenne of high fashion as ADR? OK maybe it is!) Other bloggers include Bip Ling and Laeticia of Madamoiselle Robot.

Anyway. So far so predictable. But wait – to illustrate the point that everyone is talking about Motilo – the site teamed up with amazing model/artist linguist Elle Muliarchyk to create something with a bit of a point of difference, something that would have everyone remembering her name. It’s a montage of bright lips spouting all sorts of nonsense thanks to the brilliant and truly gorgeous Elle. This ex-model/artist cum linguist caught up with 50 of the world’s finest models earlier this year, and had them recite local tongue twisters – each with beautiful painted lips – and each in their own language. CUTE ARAMA!!
Madonna launches new label, Truth or Dare

It is another new fashion line from the Queen of Pop. Madonna is set to launch her second “lifestyle brand” named Truth or Dare. Targeting the older customer (as oppose to her tween-aimed Material Girl line) Madge’s new label is a joint project between the Iconix Brand Group Inc., Guy Oseary and herself.
Truth or Dare will focus on the 27-50 year-old female market and will launch next year. It will start off with a fragrance and accessories range, with shoes, handbags and lingerie slated to follow. Despite being approached numerous times in the past to create her own brand, Madonna says the timing has never been right until now.
“Over the past several years, I have been approached countless times to create my own brand,” she said. “The timing is right and I have found great partners in Iconix, who can help translate my vision to reality.”

CQ Watch: Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton chats to Cathy Horyn
Two of fashion’s most powerful people have come together for a discussion that has been beautifully captured by Nowness. The New York Times’s fashion critic Cathy Horyn took the opportunity to get up close and personal with Sarah Burton as well as her amazing pieces for Alexander McQueen. In this video, Burton talks about what inspires her, the Alexander McQueen woman and just how Lee Alexander mastered the process of creating statement-making designs.
“What you wear is making a statement about the period of history we live in. Every time [Lee] felt every time an obligation to say what he meant. He felt that he had to have a message – about society, or himself,” she says.

Victoria Beckham’s fashion sales set to soar to £60 million
There is no denying that Victoria Beckham’s fashion line has been going gang-busters, but now there is actual evidence that her business is really booming.
The former Spice Girl reached sales in excess of £15 million in the first quarter of 2011, increased by a whopping 70 per cent on the same period last year. That means if things stay on track, her label is set to make £60 million in earnings this year!
A source revealed, “Victoria never dreamed her clothing range would be successful. She is close to eclipsing David!”
New Fashion Film – I Hate My Collection!
Central Saint Martins
I Hate My Collection – 1st TEASER from Markus Nylaander on Vimeo.
Whoo-hoo, new fashion film alert! A quirky documentary called I Hate My Collection about the venerable art college Central Saint Martin’s has just been brought to our attention, by the clever old Susie Bubble on her blog. So far we like everything about the trailer, from the David Bowie soundtrack, to the archive footage of crazy old Eighties collections, to the camp institutions such as Antony Price and Manolo Blahnik being interviewed for it. Stephen Jones claimed he went there after calculating how close it was to Piccadilly Circus – ‘the very centre of London’ – while Antonio Berardi described ruefully how ‘every other fashion college hated us’.
Like all fashion fans, Grazia Daily is fascinated by Central Saint Martins. When we were at another fashion college down the road, we used to prefer to look at the books in the CSM library to our own, because they were dustier and there was a more diverse selection. Everyone who’s anyone, from Christopher Kane, Mary Katrantzou, Gareth Pugh, Katharine Hamnett, Steven Jones and Stella McCartney to John Galliano and Alexander McQueen (in fact in might be quicker to name those who didn’t study there) are alumni, and many global brands that are otherwise unconnected to London are actually manned by design staff, pattern cutters and assistants from the college.

Milan fashion week to clash with London & New York
The spring 2012 catwalks aren’t yet over, but the spring 2013 catwalks are already proving something of an issue for September 2012.
It’s not the first time it’s happened, but unless it is resolved it should prove interesting to see fashion writers and buyers alike attempt to massage their schedules to allow them to be in two places at once;
New York, London, Milan and Paris are locked in a dispute that threatens to destabilise the multibillion-pound global fashion industry, The Daily Telegraph has learnt.
