For most celebrities, nevertheless, this routine is nothing new. Obtaining dolled up for a night of partying and red carpet stomping is just yet another component of the job–however, for young Hollywood actresses the routine is slightly different because they have designers clamoring to dress them.
We can’t imagine that any of the current hot young items are tired of obtaining dressed up just yet, so we’ve decided to dress a handful of of our favorite starlets (of a certain high school-ish age–we know some of them are more than 18…) for prom in some looks from spring and fall.

We’re usually so distracted by Dakota Fanning’s stellar sartorial selections on the red carpet that we forget to check out her makeup—until now. The actress has been lining her eyes with gold recently, 1st at a Tribeca Film Festival party and once again final night, at the DKMS Linked Against Leukemia Gala at Cipriani Wall Street. Fanning, a new face at the annual fundraiser (regulars contain committee members Vera Wang, Anja Rubik, and Solange Knowles), heard about the trigger by way of Coty, manufacturer of her Marc Jacobs Oh Lola! fragrance and corporate charity partner of DKMS, the world’s largest bone marrow registry.
“Oh, no, I had somebody else do my makeup tonight,” said Fanning, smiling modestly, when we complimented her shimmering eye shadow. She ultimately admitted to crafting her exquisite golden eyelids from the week ahead of. “Sometimes I’ll do my own makeup for events,” she stated. “I actually like gold eye shadow—my preferred is this discontinued M.A.C shade, but I also like Topshop’s eye shadow crayon.”
Sitting near Fanning, a couple tables more than, was the event’s honoree, Heidi Klum. Following a moving moment, when a mother met the bone marrow donor who saved her adorable 6-year-old boy’s life (there wasn’t a dry eye in the property!), Klum humbly accepted her award. “What we witnessed on stage right now was really particular. You see these items on television and hear about them but to see it in real life, it truly adjustments you—it changed me, I know,” mentioned Klum, who treated Katelyn D’Entremont, the heroic bone marrow donor, to a fun-filled day in Los Angeles. “I will in no way forget Katey—you can speak about [being a donor] but to in fact do it takes a very unique person.

Photo: La Garconne
When Marc Jacobs released the clear, PVC pump at left earlier this spring it was impossible not to associate the shoe with Cinderella. It is a slightly sexier, far more modern version of the Disney princess’ legendary glass slipper. But Jacobs isn’t the only 1 dreaming up styles for a modern day day ball—Christian Louboutin’s been recruited to whip a shoe in Cinderella’s honor, as well.
Louboutin tells WWD that he’ll apply his “magic touch” to her popular slipper—which we think about means a red sole on some thing that looks a lot like Jacobs’ heels, becauase how a lot can one do with a clear pump?—in honor of the movie’s re-release on DVD. He also tells the trade, “I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as nicely as the dream world.”
We’re not totally clear on when and where they met, but we do believe the shoe designer would make a wonderful Prince Charming.

Krysten Ritter: Master Pool Shark
Krysten Ritter & baby in L!fe Happens.
As the saying goes, shit occurs. The phrase rings specially accurate for the characters in L!fe Happens (initially titled BFF & Baby), the initial film written by Krysten Ritter. Ritter, whose new show just premiered on ABC this week, co-wrote the film with her very best friend—and director—Kat Coiro.
The film opens with Ritter and (a funny!) Kate Bosworth fighting over the last condom in their shared property. With their respective mates impatiently waiting upstairs, Bosworth calls dibs—based on her ovulation cycle—and snatches the condom. Quickly-forward a single year and Ritter’s character Kim is knee-deep in diapers and breast pumps, nevertheless living with her greatest-friend-female-roommates in their Silver Lake bachelorette pad, desperate to locate a man other than the 1 to whom she gave birth. We caught up with Ritter and Coiro the other day. The former wore a structured dress by Sachin+Babi but slipped off her red Jimmy Choos in favor of Marc Jacobs flats, whilst Coiro donned a flannel button down and jeans. With each other, they gushed more than the female buddy comedy that proves, as soon as again, how tough it it to break up with your ideal buddy.
ELLE: It is challenging to break up with girl close friends!
KRYSTEN RITTER: Occasionally it’s worse, simply because you can just not say anything—I guess I do this with males too—but you just sort of cease talking to them. But, I’ve also heard of some girlfriends who have broken up with other pals and really had a talk. Like ‘I cannot be around you any longer. We shouldn’t be friends.’
KAT COIRO (KC): Krysten and I wrote the script with each other and we wrote it over many years and we’re really excellent close friends. But as you develop issues with each other and your careers go in distinct directions, there are tensions that ebb and flow. We put a lot of that—not just from our relationship, but other relationships we’ve observed in Hollywood—into that script, where a single girl is going one way and another is going the other way and…
KR: And how do you continue to develop together, if you can at all?
KC: And often it takes a break-up to come back and appreciate that person.

The most striking statement of the season may have been Miuccia Prada’s lineup of pantsuits at Miu Miu. Following years of darling frocks in girly prints and often retro silhouettes, the designer took a hard appropriate toward the 70s and sent out one particular printed suit following the other. Of course, the coordinating prints were spring’s big trend, creating it slightly simpler on the eyes this time about. Instead of bright florals and tropical prints, designer utilised plaid, checks and tapestry-like fabrics typically linked with sofas forty years ago. The print on print suit is still tough to wear in true life, but other designers—including Marc Jacobs, Stefano Pilati, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon at Kenzo, Viktor and Rolf—seem to feel you ought to give it a shot come fall.

Photo: Louis Vuitton
In the final space of Les Art Decoratifs new Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs: The Exhibition, there’s a wordy summation of what you’ve just noticed. It says issues like, “Louis’ linear and rational legacy finds its equal in Marc’s eclecticism and poetry.” But no matter how tough the curators tried to link the two designers (or one particular luggage maker and one designer), visitors will leave blown away by just how distinct they are, astonished at what Jacobs has accomplished with the brand in so short a time.
The 1st floor of the museum is devoted to Louis Vuitton. A assortment of original trunks are on display, from steel and wood to leather and ultimately the logo-printed canvas (developed by his son) that’s grow to be so iconic. The trunks created for explorers are the most enjoyable to see—a red and white striped bed pops out of one while drawers, bottles and brushes fill yet another. Because Vuitton got his begin producing the trunks in which designers like Charles Frederick Worth shipped their haute couture, there are a dozen or so Victorian dresses on display, as well as a charming video of Parisians walking the Tuileries at the end of the 19th century. As soon as you turn up the stairs nonetheless, you are met with a warning that what you see in Marc’s world may possibly be offensive to some, especially children.
At the best, there’s a really naked picture of Vivienne Westwood, and a host of other editorial pictures Marc chose to introduce the uninitiated to his aesthetic. Then a wall of bags, displayed like a box of chocolates, ranging from his very first collection for the house—a very sporty, all white messenger bag—to spring 2012—a palm-sized clutch produced entirely of egg shells. Jacobs’ clothes are grouped together thematically, rather then chronologically. His artist collaborations, including Richard Prince and Takashi Murakami, occupy one spot whilst dresses created of unusual skins and feathers reside in a Natural History Museum-like window in which the models have animal heads. The dominatrix outfit with which Kate Moss closed Vuitton’s fall 2011 show is worn by a mannequin with a jaguar’s head, on all fours inside a gold cage.
