Aleks Style – TopShop Coated Skinny Jeans
Hey everyone! I am back to London right after my two weeks of paradise in Thailand. The weather contrast is wonderful! It really is difficult to believe that just a few days ago I was enjoying the sun and the 29-degree sea water.
Right now, even so it’s the time for my favourite jeans of this winter. These MOTO Wet Appear Coated Skinny Jeans from Topshop have been one particular of my most wearable denim this season and here is why. Initial of all, I am actually into this wet-appear that is so well-liked now. I really like the colour and the way the jeans appear on a sunny day. They are virtually leather-like but a lot thinner and softer and fit amazingly. The soft and stretchy material makes them super comfortable and of course, do not forget the high-rise, which I locate quite comfy. A high waist is constantly a wonderful bonus for me simply because it tends to make the legs appear longer and who does not like that?
The jeans are component of Topshop’s Edited collection, which is a handpicked selection from their winter season collections. They also come in stunning burgundy and shiny black. They run correct to size and are fairly tight and skinny. I was a little worried the wax-coating would come off right after washing, but that didn’t occur. The jeans still appear as good as new even following numerous washes. One more fantastic issue about them is, of course the price – becoming TopShop they are clearly incredibly good value for funds.

Versus Fall 2012: A Happy Marriage
Donatella Versace and Christopher Kane are two very different designers–with generations amongst them–but the duo’s fall 2012 collection for Versus, was really a marriage, of the best kind, of their two aesthetics.
Kane, a 29-year-old cool kid from London, clearly has an eye for what his peers want, and we can picture he had young 20-one thing, club-goers in mind when he developed the dip-dyed, physique-con, lace-up frocks. On the other hand, Donatella, a 55-year-old, glamorous Italian woman who’s been about the block a few times, probably had a hand in the collection’s more sophisticated and well-tailored pieces.
The outcome was a collection that although utterly young and fresh–like the laced-up frocks, or the lace and patterned pieces–was also extremely much grounded in a grown-up, luxurious sensibility–like the fluffy large fur, and the sumptuous leather pieces.

Dark Romance Gucci Fall Winter 2012 2013 Collection
Milan’s Fashion Week catwalks seem dominated by some dark, deep feeling of fashion really like. Now it’s either a direct, pessimistic reflection of the economic state of good old Europe (which, if it had been correct, should’ve been clearly reflected in London’s catwalks – and it surely wasn’t the case) or it’s a unanimous dark approach of romance and fall style – “nocturnal”, they say. And they’re all attempting their very best to make it festive – like Gucci tried to give it a wild spin by utilizing feathers for their Fall Winter 2012 2013 collection.

Trendspotting: The Velvet Fog

She wore blue velvet. And black velvet. And purple velvet. And… well, you get the thought. Prints aren’t the only thing acquiring the all-over therapy this season. London was chock complete of George Constanza-approved velvets in an array of dark, sombre colors at shows like Burberry Prorsum, Paul Smith and Topshop Special. Is it now socially acceptable to drape oneself in velvet? Lucky for George, the very first day of Milan continued that trend with Alberta Ferretti and Gucci showing their own takes on the lush looks.

We currently mentioned that there’s a slew of purple on the fall runways, but now that we’ve entered element two of the collections, even the carpets are turning purple. What was a one particular off pop of color in London, at Christopher Kane, has been spotted twice in as numerous days in Milan thanks to each Gucci and Prada. Apparently fall is all about matching the carpet to the, um, coats!
Three London Labels to Love: Bolzoni & Walsh, Lucas Nascimento, and Dion Lee
One of the great things about London is that the schedule isn’t so packed that you don’t have time to see the presentations of smaller, newer labels. This season we hit a bunch of them, and are excited to report that there is lots of good stuff out there.
We chatted with three up-and-comers: Dion Lee, the designers behind Bolzoni & Walsh, and Lucas Nascimento. They all have different backgrounds and orgins, but they have one thing in common: You’re going to be seeing a lot more of them.
