London Fashion Week to Include International Designer Showcase

This month’s London Fashion Week will host its 1st International Fashion Showcase. As part of a yearlong cultural system pegged to the 2012 Olympics, the event will see 80 emerging designers from Australia to Uzbekistan showcase their designs, either at their country’s embassy or at one particular of London’s “cultural institutions.” Judged by the British Fashion Council, the nation that finest presents its young designers’ function wins a prize — which we’re guessing is either a nice floral-patterned china tea set or a tin of shortbread.

London Menswear Week is Official

Models display creations as part of Burberry Prorsum Fall winter 2012 2013 Menswear collection on January 14 2012 during the Men s fashion week in Milan. London Menswear Week is Official

For years, London’s menswear designers have been out of sync with the rest of the fashion globe. Not in terms of concepts or help or sales, but timing. When men’s fashion weeks hit in January and July for Milan and Paris, Britain’s homegrown talents showcase at the end of London Fashion Week in February and September. MAN day has constantly attracted a bevy of publicity and attendees, but has been a bone of contention for some time, as it has been argued that by the time Brit designers hit the catwalks, the men’s buyers have closed their order books and spent all of their budgets.

But lastly that is about to modify. Yesterday the British Fashion Council announced that London will get its quite own menswear couple of days! 3 to be precise, from Friday June 15th till the 17th. Spearheaded by GQ editor, Dylan Jones – also the British Fashion Council’s 1st chair of the fashion Menswear Committee – who promised ‘to give menswear a bigger and better platform in this country, and to attempt and emphasize its commercial and creative importance.’ Accurate to his word, then. It is believed that both Burberry and Paul Smith menswear will be on the schedule, as nicely as younger talent.

She’s perfected the red carpet outfits, but how will the Duchess of Cambridge cope with her next public performance? It’s been announced that Kate will run a mile through London as part of Sports Relief. Along with her husband Prince William – who has long been a keen supporter of the charity – the couple will jog down The Mall as part of fundraising activity on 25 March 2012.

Kate is a keen sportswoman. Before her wedding she apparently went running around their home in Anglesey to shape up and her sister Pippa is often seen doing competitive races. But if the running will be easy for Kate, surely this presents her with a sartorial challenge. What exercise gear is suitable for a young royal? Allow us to make a few suggestions…
