Sister by Sibling Fall 2012: Fetish Texas Barbie

Sister by Sibling Fall 2012: Fetish Texas Barbie

I was clued in to new-ish label Sister by Sibling last season in London, when they showed their initial women’s line. (A men’s line, named Sibling, has been around since 2008.) Founded by trio Joe Bates, Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery, the label is known for its quirky/punky knits. And their fashion cred is quite solid, considering that they’ve collaborated with Alexander McQueen, Galliano, and Lanvin (not to mention a slew of artists)–and also had their own Topshop line. So I was pretty excited to see the presentation, which did not disappoint.

Styled by Katie Grand, it was a visually exciting presentation. The models all wore sparkly gimp masks (for lack of a far better description), topped off by pompom hats, and in case that wasn’t adequate of a statement, vibrant pink skull and crossbones with a Mickey Mouse ear motif adorned anything, as did a blue and orange cheetah print. The collection, named “Diamond Lil”, was inspired by Texas, sort of. The line also did a collaboration with Barbie, in which she was styled with this season’s looks. It all somehow made excellent sense to me upon seeing the collection.

Levi’s goes fashion and I mean big time! The program was based around our daily ritual of getting dressed. Simple, right?

Here’s what the brand says,

“Steeped in the authenticity and craftsmanship that the brand is known for, the collection is built around classic and refined styles with sharp clean aesthetics, which have been tailored to perfection.

The key trend for men this season is the tapered look, for a great flattering fit that sits just below the waist, is slouchy on the top and has a slim tailored leg.

Hudson’s Phosphorescent Invasion Launch Party #NYFW

The a single party I did not attend due to a lousy sneaky flu, was the HUDSON LouLou Jeans Launch Party of their new LouLou Denim.

Featuring a Phosphorescent Invasion of New York City’s Meatpacking District at ScoopNYC, the party was hosted by Leigh Lezark who was rocking her Loulou’s. Other VIPs in attendance included Coco Rocha who was observed in her HUDSON Space Invaders and Joe Jonas (who most possibly was not wearing any Loulou’s!).

What a mean bad time to have a flu in the course of NYFW icon sad Hudsons Phosphorescent Invasion Launch Party #NYFW

Did Target Work Out Its Website Issues for the Jason Wu Collection? Not Really, According to Our Writer’s Firsthand Account

Did Target Work Out Its Website Issues for the Jason Wu Collection? Not Really, According to Our Writer’s Firsthand AccountAfter the disaster that was Missoni for Target, a single would assume that Target’s on the internet team would have worked out all the kinks for the Jason Wu launch. Sadly, for many who hoped to get their hands on a piece of Jason Wu for Target, the experience was as frustrating as ever.

The 1st sign that issues might not go smoothly was the Target Style team’s response to the a lot of inquiries about when specifically the collection would launch on the internet: “Collection is launching in the early morning. We’ll let you know when it launches, on Twitter and Facebook” was one response supplied to user @raeofsunshine29. Then, around 1 AM EST, came this tweet from @TargetStyle: “It appears that three dresses are available… link: tgt.bz/6018RLbi.”

The link did not show any of the Wu collection for me, so I went to the Wu principal page. You could click on “Jason Wu Clothing” and “Jason Wu Accessories” but both pages had been blank. Looking for “Jason Wu” brought up the dreaded error page. Target Style, both on their Facebook and Twitter accounts, recommended to many who were having concerns to try one more browser – Google Chrome and World wide web Explorer were the two most suggested – and logging into the Target website.

beth%20ditto%20for%20mac%20promo Beth Ditto inks deal with MAC Cosmetics

Beth Ditto who is recognized for doing her personal make-up has just signed a deal with MAC Cosmetics. WWD reports that the singer has agreed to generate a restricted edition range with products most likely to hit counters in June.

To help kick off the launch of the new range, Beth attended last night’s Gala Sidaction Dîner de la Mode in Paris (this explains the sightings of her at Haute Couture Week). She was a special guest of Karen Buglisi, MAC global brand president and John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc and chairman of the MAC Aids Fund. This year the fund will donate 190,000 euros to Sidaction.

Small else is identified about Beth’s forthcoming make-up collection but I am guessing it’ll be funky, a small bit sparkly and feature an array of vivid bold colours. I wonder what the ladies more than at Kiss and Makeup think about this news…

Meet Jason Wu’s New Signature Bag and His Adorable Kittens (Yes, At the Same Time)

006m 300x450 Meet Jason Wu’s New Signature Bag and His Adorable Kittens (Yes, At the Same Time)Target is generally attached to Jason Wu’s name appropriate now: the hype for the February 5 launch of his collection for the mass retailer has reached fever pitch with a celeb-filled pre-shop party that went down final night. The Target buzz it’s virtually adequate to make you lose sight of the lovely perform his does for his eponymous line–that is till he shows his fall 2012 collection next month.

We checked in with Wu to come across out what’s going on outside of the Target hysteria. He’s excited about his new “it-bag” called the Daphne which he unveiled as portion of his pre-fall collection. We identified out why it’s referred to as the Daphne, learned about his design procedure for accessories, and used this interview as shameless excuse to make him show us his adorable pet cats Jinxy and Peaches (maybe the inspiration behind Milu, the muse for his Target collection?).

Fashionista: Tell me about the Daphne–how did model Daphne Groeneveld inspire it, how did you arrive at the shape, why is it your signature?
Jason Wu: The Daphne bag is my take on a ’40s frame bag, modernized by a a lot softer structure and a chic relaxed attitude. I really like that it can operate as either a dressed up or dressed down bag. I met Daphne Groeneveld a few seasons ago when she very first arrived in New York and just fell in adore with her. Daphne’s striking, classic with a twist look reminds me so much of this bag that I decided to name it following her.

Why is a signature bag so important to a brand?
I always believe of a signature bag as one thing that represents the very DNA of a brand. When I designed Daphne, I felt that it embodied all the qualities my designs.

How do you method designing accessories? How does it differ from your method to designing clothes?
I have to put on a diverse thinking cap when designing accessories, even though staying true to my design esthetics. I feel a principal difference in accessory style is that you have to put a lot of consideration into its everyday functionality-it not only has to appear good, it has to final forever too.
