Beth Ditto inks deal with MAC Cosmetics

Beth Ditto who is recognized for doing her personal make-up has just signed a deal with MAC Cosmetics. WWD reports that the singer has agreed to generate a restricted edition range with products most likely to hit counters in June.
To help kick off the launch of the new range, Beth attended last night’s Gala Sidaction Dîner de la Mode in Paris (this explains the sightings of her at Haute Couture Week). She was a special guest of Karen Buglisi, MAC global brand president and John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc and chairman of the MAC Aids Fund. This year the fund will donate 190,000 euros to Sidaction.
Small else is identified about Beth’s forthcoming make-up collection but I am guessing it’ll be funky, a small bit sparkly and feature an array of vivid bold colours. I wonder what the ladies more than at Kiss and Makeup think about this news…
Meet Jason Wu’s New Signature Bag and His Adorable Kittens (Yes, At the Same Time)
Target is generally attached to Jason Wu’s name appropriate now: the hype for the February 5 launch of his collection for the mass retailer has reached fever pitch with a celeb-filled pre-shop party that went down final night. The Target buzz it’s virtually adequate to make you lose sight of the lovely perform his does for his eponymous line–that is till he shows his fall 2012 collection next month.
We checked in with Wu to come across out what’s going on outside of the Target hysteria. He’s excited about his new “it-bag” called the Daphne which he unveiled as portion of his pre-fall collection. We identified out why it’s referred to as the Daphne, learned about his design procedure for accessories, and used this interview as shameless excuse to make him show us his adorable pet cats Jinxy and Peaches (maybe the inspiration behind Milu, the muse for his Target collection?).
Fashionista: Tell me about the Daphne–how did model Daphne Groeneveld inspire it, how did you arrive at the shape, why is it your signature?
Jason Wu: The Daphne bag is my take on a ’40s frame bag, modernized by a a lot softer structure and a chic relaxed attitude. I really like that it can operate as either a dressed up or dressed down bag. I met Daphne Groeneveld a few seasons ago when she very first arrived in New York and just fell in adore with her. Daphne’s striking, classic with a twist look reminds me so much of this bag that I decided to name it following her.
Why is a signature bag so important to a brand?
I always believe of a signature bag as one thing that represents the very DNA of a brand. When I designed Daphne, I felt that it embodied all the qualities my designs.
How do you method designing accessories? How does it differ from your method to designing clothes?
I have to put on a diverse thinking cap when designing accessories, even though staying true to my design esthetics. I feel a principal difference in accessory style is that you have to put a lot of consideration into its everyday functionality-it not only has to appear good, it has to final forever too.

KARL at NET-A-PORTER.COM
Karl Lagerfeld may be the only designer who could, within 24 hours, debut both a 61-piece couture runway collection, and a 70-piece women’s ready-to-wear line with a top e-tailer. After a month-long build up of the collection, Karlphiles can finally get their hands on wearable and pretty affordable separates at NET-A-PORTER.COM tomorrow including a moto style jacket in black and white leather, a sequin pencil skirt ($ 310), a double breasted evening jacket, a silver lame tunic blouse ($ 200), a pair of black patent boxers’ shorts with elastic waistband, and signature Karl detachable collars ($ 175 each) and fingerless black leather gloves.
A team effort between the world’s busiest designer and the top online luxury retailer warrants a day of special launch-related events—in New York, a pop-up window shop opens at 10:30am at 375 Bleecker street to reveal graphics of the collection that customers can scan with their iPhone or iPad to purchase (or win!), and the first 50 visitors will be outfitted with a pair of the leather fingerless gloves or one of the collection’s collars. Exclusive: A Look at More of Karl Lagerfeld’s New Affordably Priced Line Karl, On Sale This Week
KARL at NET-A-PORTER.COM
On the off likelihood you hadn’t noticed the Net-a-Porter ads blanketing every fashion internet site and counting down the seconds until Karl Lagerfeld’s new affordably priced line Karl launches exclusively on their site–or joined Karl’s kult and Karl-ified oneself (or your kat) with Net-a-Porter’s Karl iPhone app–here’s one more tease for the Karl line, which goes on sale Friday.
We got to preview the collection yesterday and it is both really Karl and extremely wearable. Costs range from $ 25 for a tote to about $ 1300 for a leather biker jacket. The collection has a difficult masculine Karl-esque edge with lots of cropped leather biker jackets and vests on the greater priced end, and a relaxed virtually Alexander Wang-feeling set of much more athletic-inspired pieces on the lower end, which includes soft tees printed with Karl’s face and boxing shorts total with a giant ‘Karl’ logo as a faux belt buckle. Of course, this is still Karl Lagerfeld, so there is glamour, too, in the way of sequined shorts, leggings and a high-waisted skirts, a silvery blouse, and roughed up cracked silver denim. The color range is unsurprisingly limited–everything is black and white and silver with 1 dash of pastel pink on a denim vest.

Reports: Gilt Groupe Laid Off More Than a Hundred People Today
Earlier this month Gilt Groupe CEO Kevin Ryan responded to rumors that the business would lay off 170 workers by claiming he only had plans to “selectively trim” the staff by 50 men and women more than the subsequent couple of months. But a source tells us nowadays that the business laid off much more than a hundred men and women, and the canned workers may contain John Auerbach, who headed the men’s division and spearheaded the launch of the full-cost Park and Bond site, and Nate Richardson, who headed Gilt City. “Apparently folks are terrified,” the source said. “It seems like all of middle management — they’re the ones who are most scared.” Of Gilt’s three offices around the city, the aura is thought to be the worst at Gilt City’s HQ.
Signs of leaner times at Gilt, which expanded very rapidly to about 900 workers, are evident in the kitchen, which is known for supplying staffers with a vast array of tantalizing snacks. A refrigerator in 1 workplace is stated to bear a sign that reads, “Gilt has created a New Year’s Resolution to cut the following items from our buying diet program across all places: all fruits, all yogurt, all cheeses, Thomas’ English muffins, granola and well being bars, Rice Krispie treats, Poptarts, and Pellegrino.”

Chanel Perfection Lumière Foundation Review
Last week saw the launch of Chanel‘s Perfection Lumière foundation, the product that gave the models at their pre-fall 2012 show in Paris such beautiful, luminous skin. We told you all about it here – and now we’ve tried it ourselves so we can tell you what the foundation itself is like.
This is shade 32 Rose Beige, which suits medium-fair skin tones with pink undertones (can I just say by the way, I love the way they’ve laid out the shades with this product, in a table that you can cross reference with skin colour and undertone – see end) – sadly I am pale as pale can be, without being dead, so this won’t show off its skills at colour matching.
