Bald Models With Molting Beards Hit the Runway in Berlin

The problem with showing a collection on professional male and female models made up to look yellow in the face and bald with thin scraps of facial hair is that it detracts completely from the clothes. Who cares what a chick’s boxer shorts look like when she is topless and molting a beard, like a long-lost would-be Coneheads character, if only she had the full cone? But this is what designer Patrick Mohr’s hair and makeup looked like in his show at Berlin Fashion Week today. The images are startling and disturbing, but the show may have gotten the most attention of any at this Berlin Fashion Week. The event isn’t as big as Paris, Milan, New York, or even London Fashion Weeks, but designers are known to take more risks, The Wall Street Journal notes. Mohr’s show is just one example of that, along with further proof that unkempt beards are happening. Or maybe this is a comment on some sort of hot new German reverse hormone therapy! See more behind-the-scenes and runway shots in the slideshow. (Some images NSFW.)

Model Diaries: Mark Cox Loves Thongs for Men

Noted Dutch male model Mark Cox borrowed our digicam last week to record his busy life during the Paris menswear shows. Watch the video to see inside Mark’s lavish hotel room, hear him discuss the joys of man thongs, and get serenaded by his male-model pals, herein dubbed the Bench Boys.
Plus, we have a brief clip of rookie Corey Baptiste, at dinner with his friends (including Model Diary alum Sean O’Pry), during Milan Men’s Fashion Week. Watch it to find out his drink of choice — or to just stare at his goosebump-inspiring cheekbones.

Slideshow: The 21 Best Looks From Menswear 2011

The spring 2011 menswear showings in Milan and Paris were handsome as all get-out — and that’s to say nothing of the clothes (which in some cases, were barely there). On the trends front, there were a host of split necks and slit sleeves (Alexander McQueen, Comme des Garçons), more than a few chunky-cozy knits (Gucci, Ferragamo), and oodles of Angus Young suit-and-short getups (Thom Browne, Costume National). But sans a few wild cards — Frankie Morello, we’re looking at you — it was a relatively commercial season. You could actually see your boyfriend or next-door neighbor or at least someone at Oak pulling the looks off. Click ahead to see the Cut’s top 21 picks for spring 2011, then start making a must-buy list for you and yours.

Milan Men’s Fashion week: Ermanno Scervino
Ermanno Scervino’s 2010-2011 show was not only the closing show of fashion week, but also one of the more memorable. Scervino is celebratig the man and he’s style and ideas just proves him to be one of the better designers that are made in Italy. He gives us new views and ideas on mens fashion and manage to keep up with the signature Scervino style while bringing us new things and without ever becoming boring. The clothes on show was relaxed sportswear goes slightly preppy with a hince of scandinavian meets italian man. V-neck t-shirts, blazers and shorts was all layered for that effortless look and short rolled up shorts was teamed with tailored pieces and bare abs for the more sexy look. Double-breasted jackets, the man bag and cool boots was details that catched us. The boyfriend jeans has been taken back from the girls wardrobe and will now be seen on men. Ripped details and bleached to perfection, they are teamed with amazing blazers to create a nice balance. Colors are out this season and the whole show went in earthy shades and nuances. Army green, navy, beige, black, grey and white is the perfect way to make everything from the collection work together. Loved the fact that it was very wearable and the styling was as close to perfection as it could get. Scervino has proved that a collection doesn’t have to be eye-catching, crazy or filled with new innovative designs to be loved and sheered by the public. Simplicity, elegance, a little bit of street and perfect cuts is sometimes just the main ingredients for a great collection. Well done!
