Olympia Le-Tan Launches New Italian Cinema-Inspired Collection for Pitti W; Will Launch Apparel for Fall 2012

“I rather like to see somebody I do not know wearing my bag in the street and I have no thought how they got it,” Olympia Le-Tan said at the press conference before the presentation of the new collection of bags she’d developed as the unique guest of Pitti W, the smaller women’s counterpart to Florence’s famed menswear trade show, Pitti Uomo. “Of course, it’s good when Natalie Portman is wearing one at a premiere, too,” she added.
Le-Tan, who began her style profession beneath Gilles Dufour at Chanel at just 19, has earned the adoration of fashion insiders like Sofia Coppola and Olivier Zahm for each her hand-crafted book clutches and her DJ capabilities at Paris hot spot Le Baron. As the very first accessories designer invited to present at Pitti W, Le-Tan churned out an appropriately Italian-themed collection comprised of 36 bags inspired by Italian cinema and literature. “I studied Italian literature and chose [to make bags] according to the books and motion pictures I like,” Le-Tan said, switching fluidly among Italian, English and French, answering every single reporter in his or her native tongue. Final season Le-Tan introduced a milk carton and cook book clutches, and for her Pitti collection, she introduced a round film canister shape, each and every embroidered with a classic Italian film like La Dolce Vita, Senso, and Riso Amaro.

Kate Moss In Lingerie For Valisere Fall Winter 2011 2012 Ad Campaign
I know I really should be writing much more about fitness programs and exercising and… nonetheless, I often stand against the trend. Because you deserve it! You deserve some fresh air in this sea of losing weight madness! (what? Wherever I turn my head, girls talk about shedding the copious Holidays added weight! And do not tell me you hadn’t notice?)
So, my daaahlings, newsflash: You’re Beautiful, Just the Way You Are! Time to go underwear shopping! (wink) Did you know that Kate Moss was the spokesbody for Valisere Lingerie? (it is a Triumph brand, hailing from France’s Val D’Isere region – hence the name) She’s searching great, as usually! (you know those days when I was complaining that Kate Moss was everywhere? Now I actually miss her – do you?)

Fall Colors in Tokyo 2011 Pictures – Harajuku, Shinjuku & Aoyama
It’s the second week of December, which means extreme winter cold in some parts of the world. But here in Tokyo, we’re still experiencing the end of Autumn. Many trees in Tokyo are covered in golden leaves – even while Christmas decorations are going up all over town. Over the last few weeks as we did our usual wandering around Tokyo, we shot a bunch of “fall colors” pictures to share the beauty of the leaves in Tokyo with those of you far from Japan.
The pictures below were mostly shot in Harajuku, Shinjuku, and at the famous Icho Namiki (Ginkgo Avenue) in Aoyama. For the photography geeks (like us) – some of the pictures are three exposure handheld HDR, and all of the photos were shot with a Canon 5D Mark II camera.
Enjoy the fall colors in Tokyo! Please click the pictures to see them in high resolution (as they look much better big).
Fendi’s fall sophisticate
Fendi pre-Fall 2012 has a number of outfits that fall short of exceptional; but what it lacks in wow factor, it makes up for in sophisticated whimsy.
Like much of fashion in 2012 Fendi’s collection has drawn inspiration from several eras. Some outfits marry knee-length skirts with slight shoulder accents and wide, flat collars, giving off a ’40s vibe. Metallic minis and printed maxis are, meanwhile, cut to a 1960s silhouette. In this collection the most memorable pieces though are the ones that capture some important detail: a cutaway panel on the front of a shirt, a sheer bell sleeve, a perforation in leather.

Oscar de la Renta Pre Fall 2011: Back to the Upper East Side
In the past year or so “Pre Fall” has become a real “season,” a collection that is promoted and pitched to editors in addition to market editors for coverage. Granted “pre fall”–the deliveries that hits stores before fall (so like, in the summer? around June? it still confuses me)–obviously isn’t as important or as hyped as the spring and fall collections, but it’s still gaining traction. Case in point, Oscar de la Renta, who does everything in grand fashion, showed his pre fall collection on the runway yesterday at his usual space on 583 Park Ave.
It was fitting that de la Renta returned to the Upper East Side to present this collection, because the clothes were tailor made for those posh ladies who lunch, his mainstay clientele.
The collection was more subdued than the show-stoppers he sent down the runway for spring, but wearable and with a ’30s bent: long pleated skirts, fur-collared wrap sweaters, chunky tweed suits, and Katharine Hepburn-esque trousers. And the fur lined mule/loafers were lust-worthy. Evening looks were jewel-toned, done in crinkle silks, embellished with gold and silver sequins and fringe. It was classic Oscar–refined yet glamorous, and with no shortage of fur and gold.

If Miu Miu’s Fall Ad Campaign Was ‘Irresponsible’ Here Are Some Really ‘Irresponsible’ Ad Campaigns
As we reported earlier, Hailee Steinfeld’s fall 2011 Miu Miu campaign, which depicted her sitting near a train track, was banned in the UK for being “irresponsible because it depicted a child in an unsafe location.”
By that logic, the following ad campaigns, some of which depict actual dangerous situations, should never have made it to print. I mean, I can’t believe we aren’t hearing about people hurting themselves every day by climbing the Eiffel Tower in high heels and standing on top of volcanos. Although, death by attempting to recreate a Dior campaign would be a pretty chic way to go. Fashin has some excellent “irresponsible” ad campaigns with some hilarious captions here.
