Don’t forget that green emerald dress worn by Channing Tatum’s wife, Jenna Dewan, at the Golden Globes this year? I liked it – it was daringly diverse and who doesn’t adore a princess gown with lengthy train? It appears that (a single) Jenna Dewan, Katherine Heigl and Vanessa Hudgens share the same stylist or (two) each Katherine and Vanessa really like a very good princess gown with long train (wink). Either way, all 3 were wearing quite related dresses from the exact same designer – Maria Lucia Hohan.

Even though you could hear differently, the true dominant color on the 2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet was white. White – ish, neutral. As the 2012 edition of the Golden Globes showed us already, the Red Carpet tendency is towards neutral and white. And last night’s ceremony was no exception to the trends.

If I’d had to choose a preferred, I’d absolutely go for Viola Davis in Marchesa. And Zoe Saldana in Givenchy Haute Couture. Both of them took my breath away. There was even an awkward sartorial moment with Julianna Margulies and Katrina Bowden. The dresses they were wearing had been heartbreakingly related. Only they had been various. In particulars and label (Julianna was wearing Calvin Klein although Katrina Bowden was wearing Amsale. A thing unusual for the Red Carpet (at least lately): Rose Byrne. She was wearing a white jumpsuit from Elie Saab and her hair, she mentioned, was inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer circa Scarface. Intriguing, isn’t it? She was wearing it nicely, anyway! And so was Tilda Swinton who was wearing a white draped Lanvin dress. And who was at the exact same table as Angelina Jolie – they were like day and night! One particular dressed in shiny black and the other in bridal white. Intriguing!

The charming Berenice Bejo (who I’m dying to see in The Artist!) was dressed in Ralph Lauren. Nonetheless, one thing put me off about her outfit and I can’t really put my finger on it! Can you? I could go on like this, but I’m afraid the other white wearing ladies had been too bridal for my taste. There was also a handful of soft gray hues or other pale tints which were included in this “white” category: Octavia Spencer, Naya Rivera and Lea Michele are just an example of that. Also including two black &amp white dresses: Maya Rudolph in Naeem Khan and Emilia Clarke in Chanel.

Kelly Osbourne’s Badgley Mischka – fascinating but not my kind Kaley Cuoco’s Romona Keveza – bridal snowball Jenna Ushkovitz’s Rebecca Minkoff white flowery – completely unflattering Naya Rivera’s pale gray Naeem Khan dress – easy and nice Gretchen Mol’s white L’Wren Scott dress – those golden patches ruined everything! Sarah Hyland’s white – ish Temperley London – beautiful, even though it reminds me of Miley Cyrus so I don’t assume that’s a very good sign general Judy Greer’s white Collette Dinnigan dress – bridal much? Leading the black dresses pack was, undoubtedly, Emma Stone. It’s a subjective opinion, biensur, my fashperspective getting totally blindsided by Emma herself – I genuinely like her and particularly by the reality that she’s wearing Alexander McQueen. However, I can’t deny that Angelina Jolie comes in a dangerously close second position. But then again, she’s always amongst my favorites on any Red Carpet. And that’s surely not only because of her outfits.

However, considering that the black dresses were so nicely represented on the 2012 SAG Awards Red Carpet, I had to pick a very best from the rest, aside from my already mentioned weaknesses. And here I go, once again selecting two dresses: Stacy Keibler’s black lace Marchesa and Jayma Mays black sequined Reem Acra. Sadly, though the dress is flawless and the lady herself is truly impeccable, Stacy Keibler does absolutely nothing for me. (nor does her date, d’ailleurs). Jayma Mays I believe is beautiful all in all and I like her smile. Reem Acra’s sequined dress is a bit too dramatic for Jayma, but searching at the rest of the black dresses, I’m relieved whenever I lay my eyes on Jayma.

Tina Fey’s Versace black dress was like a extended lost twin sister of Jane Krakowski’s Antonio Berardi dress. Though stunning in their own rights, the two dresses, together, on the exact same Red Carpet, were a certified sartorial fail. And talking about fail – have you observed Heather Morris’ Masai Payan? Oh, what a complicated nightmare of a dress! Glenn Close in black Zac Posen didn’t impress me at all while Ashlee Simpson’s black Jenny Packham spiderweb dress was nice. I just do not comprehend what Ashlee’s performing there, that is all (I know, I know, she’s there as “the girlfriend of…”). Oh, and is it just me, or Amber Heard is a sweeter, taller version of Scarlett Johansson? (once more one more Zac Posen failing to impress me). Amber Riley. Oh gurl? Whoever told you that dress looks good (on you) wants major style revisions!
