Exclusive Video: Diane Von Furstenberg and the Rockettes in Vienna

Remember earlier this week when we showed you pics of the Radio City Rockettes chilling with Diane Von Furstenberg in Vienna? She flew 24 of the leggy ladies across the Atlantic to perform at the annual Life Ball, Europe’s biggest fundraiser for HIV/AIDS. Though the main event was rained out, the girls didn’t let the weather sour their moods. Click ahead to watch our exclusive behind-the-scenes video of DVF hangin’ with the Rockettes. Warning: It’s loaded with the kind of so-cute-your-head-might-explode footage usually reserved for puppies on YouTube.

Inappropriate McQueen window display at Selfridges

Selfrideges Alexander McQueen display involving a over-sized lamp and a black McQueen dress hanging from it in their Manchester store has caused talk about it’s inappropriateness because of the designers suicide a few months ago. He hanged himself in his London apartment a while ago and the store has now apologized for it’s in-sensitive window display:

 alexander-mcqueen-at-selfridges.png

“Presenting a fashion item from the new Alexander McQueen collection hanging was never intended to be linked to the designer’s untimely death or how he died,” it said. “Nearly all the new season items from our new window scheme, The Desirables, showcased in both our London and Manchester stores, are hung artistically on their own to present them as even more extraordinary. However, we do acknowledge that, in retrospect, presenting the dress in our Manchester Exchange Square store in this way was a mistake, and would like to apologise if this particular window has upset anyone. The dress has been removed and replaced by another designer’s garment.”

Visionaire’s Alexander McQueen Book Is Pricey

Visionaire‘s tribute to Alexander McQueen, cleverly titled A Tribute to Lee Alexander McQueen, will cost $295 a copy. But the pictures are so pretty! And since they decided to put it in a box, they can’t really sell it for anything less than that. [FabSugar]

Update: The title of the book is actually Visionaire 58 Spirit, A Tribute to Lee Alexander McQueen. And in case you’re really wondering why it’s so pricey, consider this: The pages are made from seeded paper, embedded with wild flowers that, if planted and properly tended to, will bloom real flowers. The boxed set, which is limited to 1,500 numbered copies, is also wrapped in a McQueen metalized brocade from the spring/summer 2010 show.

Dree Hemingway and Abbey Lee Have a Bag Fight in Karl Lagerfeld’s New Chanel Video

What to do when your room at the Grand Palais is so stuffed full of Chanel bags that you can’t move without tripping over them? Invite the sexy hotel porter to have a bag fight, obviously. In Karl Lagerfeld’s newly posted short film, “Shopping Fever,” Dree Hemingway and Abbey Lee play a pair of pampered young shoppers who enlist Baptiste Giabiconi to entertain them after a long day of pillaging the Chanel store, which so exhausts them that they must collapse among their 800-thread-count pillows for a nap at the end. No one’s winning an Oscar anytime soon, especially Dree, who flops about awkwardly on the couch in what we think is supposed to be a fit of petulance. However, the clothes are fabulous, particularly Abbey’s knit cap. Plus, seeing models tripping and falling over paper bags is always funny. [Official site]

Summer Button-Downs

Billowy button-down shirts are rising in popularity. Having made an appearance on the Paris runways, of designers like Chloé and Celine, the airy tops have become a summer staple. Lighter materials present an ethereal appeal that is both sophisticated and serene. This softened revision of the classic starched button-down shirt is great for warmer weather as the delicate fabrics provide a cool relief from the sun’s heat. For an effortless look, pair a silk button down shirt with pleated harem pants. Take your ensemble to the next level with flat sandal booties and a bold cuff bracelet! ~Daniella Asantewaa
