tillie

Emma Hill and her design team at Mulberry can do very little wrong in our book and, of course, whilst we can all lust after an ostrich Evelina this Christmas, there are a whole host of treats from the UK superbrand with which we would be more than satisfied come Christmas morning. This gorgeous rose gold Tillie bracelet is one such treat! Things we love about this are threefold – the oh so chic rose gold, the weighty-chunky-fabulousness of the strap, and the subtle mulberry bush on the front buckle. All Mulberry christmas gfts come in gorgeous boxes, too, which means that there’s no need to panic over the boyfriend’s lack of wrapping skills.

The Answer to Your Holiday Fashion Dilemma: a Chic Black Sweater Tunic
Ever since a spate of killer black sweater dresses & tops walked some our fave runways for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 – in particular at Tao, Vionnet and Chanel – I’ve had a serious jones on to shimmy on into one. With tights, tall boots and a wonderful coat, a girl can be dressed and fabulous (and warm) in minutes flat. But don’t think the fashion fun stops when the temperature no longer drops…au contraire! Kaiser Karl showed his black sweater tunic/dress for Spring/Summer with bare legs & cute platform strappy flats.
This chic lil’ cashmere number from Spiegel – source of fab women’s apparel when you want fun trends without silly pricetags – is glamorously glitzy (shimmer was a huge component of the Chanel collection); some of the sequins are matte, creating overall shine that’s textural and chic rather than disco ball shiny.
As the dress will do most of the talking (you just do the walking), take it easy on accessories, but do have some fun with your nails. This eyecatching purple (also from Spiegel) makes for a refreshing change from classic red.
Chic Jeans With a Crisp Edge by Norway’s Mardou&Dean
A modern travelling couple, Ingrid Bredholt and Patrik Rosenfors loved soaking up Beatnik culture and literature but were into threads with a more modern and edgy feel. Mardou&Dean was the result, featuring unique, tailored pieces designed in Norway and crafted in Italy from fab fabrics and look good whether you’re running errands or stepping out.
“We believe that every garment has its own prime period, that is, time mellows and defines each piece uniquely,” explain the stylish denim’y duo. “In accordance with this, Mardou&Dean aspires to a state of mind rather than the dictates of a passing norm.” They also hope you will imbue your own pair with “a sense of euphoria.” What that means, well that’s anyone’s guess…most importantly yours! In mine, it translates as: I’ve barely removed my pair since Ingrid & Patrick so graciously sent them my way to try.

Fashion Face-Off: Fridi Giannini vs Evan Rachel Wood in Gucci
![]()
Is it possible to wear Gucci better than the woman who designed it? It’s a tough call, with the glamourous Frida Giannini making an excellent advert for her own S/S 2012 art deco inspired flapper girl creations. But at a recent gala in LA (sponsored by Gucci, natch) Evan Rachel Wood gave it her best go, in the sleeveless version of the stunning beaded gown that Giannini wore to a Gucci party in September.
Both ladies teamed their dresses with matching gold chain shoes – peep toes for Frida and sandals for Evan – but the hair was where things differed. Do you prefer Frida’s easy chic updo, or Evan’s 20s style marcel waves?
Who do you think wore it best?

Fashion Fix – Sixties Chic
kirsten dunst
fashion fix

It’s amazing what a bouncy blow-dry can do, as demonstrated here by actress Kirsten Dunst. Yes, she is channelling true Jackie O polish with a fabulous Sixties Chanel Resort 2012 coat together with classic quilted Chanel bag and heels, but what really boosts this look into picture perfect territory is her perfectly coiffed hair. Of course a massive bouffant with back-combed roots would be taking this look too far, but the subtle detailing in her A-line coat, round toe shoes and ladylike handbag each nod to the trend without looking too costumey. If there was one look that best demonstrated how to take the Sixties trend we saw all over the winter catwalks from runway to reality, this would be it.
