London Menswear Week is Official

For years, London’s menswear designers have been out of sync with the rest of the fashion globe. Not in terms of concepts or help or sales, but timing. When men’s fashion weeks hit in January and July for Milan and Paris, Britain’s homegrown talents showcase at the end of London Fashion Week in February and September. MAN day has constantly attracted a bevy of publicity and attendees, but has been a bone of contention for some time, as it has been argued that by the time Brit designers hit the catwalks, the men’s buyers have closed their order books and spent all of their budgets.
But lastly that is about to modify. Yesterday the British Fashion Council announced that London will get its quite own menswear couple of days! 3 to be precise, from Friday June 15th till the 17th. Spearheaded by GQ editor, Dylan Jones – also the British Fashion Council’s 1st chair of the fashion Menswear Committee – who promised ‘to give menswear a bigger and better platform in this country, and to attempt and emphasize its commercial and creative importance.’ Accurate to his word, then. It is believed that both Burberry and Paul Smith menswear will be on the schedule, as nicely as younger talent.

You don’t actually need to ask why Mango have picked Kate as their campaign girl, but in case you are interested… ‘Kate Moss was chosen as the image of Mango because she’s a globe-popular fashion icon, generating her 1 of the most sought-soon after models in the fashion world,’ said a Mango spokeswoman. ‘She had a turbulent past, which she has put behind her to continue being a supermodel, and has recently married and turn into a mother. Report from Milan: For Boys & Girls

Take into account it typical expertise amongst the fashion community that when it comes to predicting trends in womenswear, the menswear collections in Milan and Paris can act as a sort of editor’s crystal ball.
Designers model their men’s wares almost nearly a full month ahead of women’s ready-to-wear hits the New York runways in the second week of February. Of course, 1 can never ever predict with 100% certainty that a trend will transcend the genders, but, getting just returned from a quick and furious Autumn Winter 2012 season in Milan—where we saw some quite directional and extremely powerful decisions by the most influential designers—I feel we can make a decent case.

Azealia Banks Reveals New Track at Mugler Show: Is She Nicola Formichetti’s New Muse?

Don’t let Harlem MC Azealia Banks’ pig tails, bangs and dimples fool you into thinking that her music is just as cute – it’s her potty-mouth lyrics and edgy beats that make her as brilliant as she is badass. It’s no wonder then that this week, Universal music have signed her. PLUS, the rapper is now officially on the fashion map after her song ‘Bambi’ was utilised as the soundtrack to Thierry Mugler’s menswear runway show this fashion week in Paris.
When Lady Gaga strutted her stuff to ‘Born This Way’ on Mugler’s Autumn / Winter 2011 catwalk in March final year, the fash pack went wild – even Anna Wintour mustered a smirk – but it appears that the brand’s designer (and the singer’s BFF) Nicola Formichetti has identified himself a new muse. Soon after tweeting that he was listening to Azealia although getting ready for a shoot, we subsequent heard news that the two had been operating together on her upcoming music video for ‘Liquorice’. Excitement!
So with an upcoming single with the Scissor Sisters coming out next month, and overwhelming buzz getting generated about the LaGuardia High School graduate (the very same school that Nicki Minaj and Al Pacino went to, FYI), it will not be lengthy until Azealia Banks succeeds in globe domination, in each the music and fashion market. We wonder if she’ll grow to be Karl’s next Florence? Have a listen to the track beneath and let us know your verdict…

Adrien Brody, Jamie Bell and co. walk the Prada menswear runway
It was an all-star line-up at the Prada menswear show in Milan yesterday. Miuccia Prada decided to enlist the aid of some of Hollywood’s finest actors in presenting her Autumn/Winter 2012-13 collection. The line-up integrated Adrien Brody, Jaime Bell, Tim Roth, Gary Oldman and Willem Dafoe who helped to close the show.
According to WWD, the “runway finale of acclaimed actors had the laidback men’s pack roaring with applause.” The males were “dressed in serious coats evoking Eastern Bloc military dress.” In spite of this the actors seemed unfazed by all of the attention. I guess that is why they’re such great actors!
