Carey Mulligan’s October 2010 Vogue Cover is Now On the Cover of French Elle…How Did This Happen?

Look: Carey Mulligan is on the November cover of French Elle. Except wait, the photograph is literally identical to the one that covered American Vogue‘s October issue last year. It was the actresses’ first Vogue cover and was shot by Peter Lindbergh (shortly after he started shooting for the mag again after an 18-year hiatus). And this French Elle cover is blatantly from the same shoot, which took place in the South of France last year and was styled by Vogue‘s Grace Coddington. Here’s a behind-the-scenes video.

Carey Mulligan’s Elle France Cover Identical To Glamour’s Germany December Cover. Same As Vogue’s October 2010 Cover
At first, I was convinced I was seeing double. Undoubtedly one of the many consequences of running a four children household. I checked again. And again. Nop. Itâs definitely not me as the unusual sighting has been reported again, for a third time.
Carey Mulligan, my dahlings, is on the cover of French Elle magazine. And on the cover of Glamour Germany December 2011. Which sounds great as Carey is one of my favorite young actresses. The only trouble is, these two above mentioned covers are identical to Vogue US October 2010 cover. I mean⦠identical to the point of being the very same image, photographed in 2010 by Peter Lindbergh. How did this happen, why?(click the picture for larger image)

Call us know-it-alls if you will, but we have noticed that it usually takes quite a few seasons for a designer to really get the attention of the press and then even longer to get the same level of attention from buyers and build up their stockists around the place. Of course if you have got a great platform like NEWGEN, Fashion East or, where the real newbies start out, Fashion Fringe to back you up, it’s a step in the right direction. We loved Corrie Nielsen’s collection when she won Fashion Fringe just over a year ago, and so we were curious to find out what was happening with her one year down the line.

You strongly advised me to go around the Chanel Cruise 2012 Collection because it was an all white catwalk. And I did. Because I don’t appreciate all white catwalks. They’re like a meal with no pepper and just salt. It lacks… something! That special something that’ll put the pedal on your circulatory system, making it all go faster, better, tastier.
But have you seen the ad campaign? The Chanel Cruise 2012 Ad Campaign as photographed by Karl Lagerfeld? With Saskia de Brauw and, biensur, Baptiste Giabiconi? Saskia, the girl pushed by Carine just before she left office chez Vogue Paris? It’s like Karl is taking whatever is shoved in his face… Sure, Saskia is lovely, she’s expressive and versatile.
