Sian Whitefoot is the Triumph(ant) winner at Inspiration Awards
Final night team Catwalk Queen (like a particular lingerie-obsessed editor) attended the Triumph Inspiration Awards, the UK final of the popular lingerie design awards.
Judges from across the fashion sector chose the lucky student designer who will go up against international competition at the grand final in Shanghai. The winner gets a cash prize (€15,000), plus the chance to see their design recreated as a special restricted edition retail garment.
This year’s panel included Jade Parfitt and Polly Delevigne (above, with a model wearing the winning design) as properly as Felder Felder, Caroline Rush from The British Fashion Council, and representatives from other places of the style market (including on the internet and print media). All attendees of the final cast their personal votes as well, which were taken into account prior to the final winner was chosen.
The winner was Sian Whitefoot from De Montfort University, who interpreted the theme ‘Dragons and Butterflies’ into a piece called ‘Ecliptic Renewal‘. She explains her concept therefore:
“For the duration of my research I came across macrophotography of owl butterfly eggs which instantaneously got my creative juices flowing. These images depicted gorgeous but straightforward sheer spheres with thicker white sections that I transcended into the structure of my piece. I was also inspired by the striking cocoons of many of the butterflies I researched, flashes of vivid green developed a dramatic and eye catching appear which I wanted to incorporate.”
Sian will compete against student designers from 31 other countries in Shanghai later this year. We’ve got our fingers crossed for her!
