Theyskens’ Theory Spring 2012 RTW | ELLE

Has anybody else noticed that the weather has been SO unpredictable lately? I mean, one day it will be warm adequate to go sans-jacket, then two days later I’ll be pulling on my heavy duty winter coat. That’s why I’m glad I found the Theyskens’ Theory Spring 2012 collection — their use of textures, fabrics and layering is brimming with inspiration for that tricky transition time from winter to spring.

Nonetheless, because buying clothes straight off the runway would undoubtedly be pricey, I’ve put together 3 spending budget-friendly interpretations of looks from this collection. Preserve on scrolling to check them out!

Getting a style chameleon and red-carpet normal, you’d consider Evan Rachel Wood was in New York for Fashion Week. But when we spoke with her at her Mark Hotel suite, she revealed she was really in town to film—gasp!—a romantic comedy. “After so many dramas, I’m undertaking my very first rom-com!” she enthuses. “I’m super excited about it. It’s named A Case of You and it also stars Justin Extended, Vince Vaughn, and Sam Rockwell, who are all truly funny.”

Wood’s junior high boyfriend also sounds pretty funny. Extended before she became the face of Gucci Guilty and Gucci Guilty Intense fragrances, she says her go-to was Victoria’s Secret Strawberries &amp Champagne. “I’m not even kidding!” she laughs. “I think a lot of girls went via that stage. I started wearing their perfume the second I began thinking about boys. And it entirely worked—I got a boyfriend and he would take my empty bottles of Strawberries &amp Champagne and smell them whenever he missed me and I wasn’t there.”

Weird? Not so, says Wood: “We all do it. It’s just like when we take someone’s shirt when they’re away—we smell it and it is like, ahhhh. You feel like they’re there with you.”

Richard Chai’s Boy Girl Mix

“I feel a neutral, monochromatic face looks chic and sophisticated,” said M.A.C guru James Kaliardos, backstage at Richard Chai’s show this morning. “Richard’s collection is complete of masculine separates so we didn’t want the models to appear too created-up. The guys and girls in fact look quite similar.”

Using M.A.C Pro Sculpting Cream in Coffee Walnut, he shaded the eyes—lids, sockets, and inner corners—on both male and female models. He then contoured cheekbones with taupe and filled-in brows to “strengthen” them.  Hair had a uniform, androgynous element as well making use of Aveda Males Pure-Formance Grooming Clay, hairstylists Kevin Ryan and Frank Rizzieri combed the matte, volume-inducing product by way of the strands of males and females alike.

Even manicures had a masculine touch: for the perfect in-among finish—not too shiny, not too dull—manicurists applied Essie Man-e-Cure to the tops of taupe-painted nails. “It’s a product produced for men that want to be properly-groomed but do not want a telltale shiny nail,” says Elle, Essie’s lead nail technician. “Richard chose it due to the fact it offers nails a texture that mimics the wool and cashmere in his collection.”

Striped Tops & Tanks: My Ongoing Obsession

Striped Tops & Tanks: My Ongoing Obsession

Striped Tops & Tanks: My Ongoing ObsessionWhether you’re at present layering against the chill up north or enjoying bare arms and soaking up the summer sunshine Down Below, you can in no way have sufficient women’s tank tops stashed in the closet.

Particularly stripes – they have a way of conferring insta-French chic the minute you put them on. 3 important moments in my fashion education have endeared me to stripes forever: Andy Warhol’s Factory Goddess Edie Sedgwick with her tomboy-adorable crop and striped top Coco Chanel searching casually chic in Breton stripes American actress Jean Seberg owning the screen in all her stripey fabulousness in Goddard’s 1960 French New Wave masterpiece “Breathless”.

Anything with that sophisticated stripey nautical really feel constantly catches my eye, like this 10×20 striped dipping-hem singlet from Supre. The asymmetric hem in distinct makes it versatile and so effortless to wear. For now, I’d tuck it into a drapey wide-leg pant and under a slouchy boyfriend cardi, and later when Spring has sprung, rock it with a slim black cigarette pant and ballet flats. And throughout summer, break it out with my fave denim short-shorts, cute sunnies and flat sandals.

Kristen Stewart just may be one of the most recognizable actresses working today, in large part thanks to her portrayal of Bella in the Twilight film series. But she is also well-known for her non-conformist attitude towards her style choices. Unlike many other starlets in Hollywood, she has been known to remove her sky high heels in favor of her trusty black Chuck Taylor lace-ups and she is just as happy in jeans and a t-shirt (maybe even more so) as she is in her red carpet ensembles. Kristen oscillates between her tomboy style and body con outfits effortlessly and so can you! All you need is few simple guidelines…

Supermodel Sara Blomqvist on Losing her Eyebrows for H&M + The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo!

While all you glamour girls are already swanking around wearing your new multi-coloured leopard print-baroque Versace for H&M togs, the Goth and tomboy section of the population are still waiting for December 13th – which is the day before the H&M Girl With A Dragon Tattoo collection will launch – upon which they’ll all smash their piggy banks open and make a break for the nearest H&M to stocks it!

Well, if you yourself are one of those people, then you’ve come to the right place this afternoon because we’ve got a brilliant exclusive video of Trish Summerville, the costume designer behind the forthcoming film of the thriller AND the range for the high street talking about how they created it.

AND – as if that wasn’t enough, there’s a bit of face time with some of the models who were shot for the grungey campaign. One of them, queen of the catwalk Sara Blomqvist, talks about how much she enjoyed the opportunity to transform, saying ‘us models get to change into so many different people and personas. Sometimes you might think that we are just nice, nice little girls – without anything done. . . so [one of the things they did was] bleached out our eyebrows!’

Cara Delevingne: angel of light

Most often when we see Cara Delevingne it’s in Burberry’s classic trench coats and London Look makeup; or perhaps some tomboy ensemble of leather biker pants and buckle boots. That’s both a strength, a natural fit for her British ‘it’ girl status, and an inevitable result of being a face of the Burberry brand. But while we always love seeing Cara in her attitude-laden, effortless gear, this shoot for Vogue Nippon’s December 2011 issue shines a light on another persona that she plays equally well: the soft, delicate femme.

Just as the light seeps through the cloudy ocean sky does it infiltrate the sheer dresses and skirts, making them light-filled forms in front of Solve Sundsbo’s lens. The lace and feathered pieces in a palette of all white make Cara appear not just feminine, but positively angelic.
