Peter Pilotto to Launch Outerwear Collab

Peter Pilotto’s already won more than the fashion critics—and they’re the hardest to please. So now, as designers Pilotto and Christopher De Vos Origin attempt to develop their brand, they’re making use of collaborations to obtain exposure.
For spring, they collaborated with Lisa Marie Fernandez on a line of printed swimsuits and yesterday, at their fall runway show, they debuted their new outerwear. The Brits teamed up with Schneiders, the Austrian outerwear brand renowned for its wool coats and Olympic uniforms, to create a collection of puffy quilted down jackets. They came cropped—and in vest form—in the exact same Asian inspired prints (the collection’s colors and prints were inspired by Japanese light trucks and Chinese opera mask makeup) as the cut-out dresses and slim pants, but they’re created out of metallic laminated wool.
Look for them in shops subsequent fall, but if you like your puffy jackets to be less colorful, do not worry—they’ve been everywhere. Burberry threw cropped down jackets more than men’s suits and complete skirts, J.W. Anderson supplied puffy pinstriped suit-like jackets and vests and even Tom Ford showed a fur-covered puffer. Here’s hoping, for their sake, that it is a bit colder next winter.

That’s all there is to it, in the end! Yes, Victoria’s Secret has put a major wheel in motion with each and every Victoria’s Secret Show – a handful of gorgeous girls walking around in lingerie, wearing all sorts of crazy, sweet, daring accessories in a financial seduction game.
Though it was initially (read the 90s) placed near Valentine’s Day, VS Fashion Show has slowly but steadily migrated in Christmas’s cozy proximity. Actually, this year it was a major show for Victoria’s Secret as they celebrated 10 years from their first TV broadcast show! 10 years of gorgeous girls cheerfully walking around in VS lingerie with more and more elaborate accessories. VS Angels, ten of the twenty to forty models to walk for Victoria’s Secret each year, made their debut in 1998. (hit the jump to see the rest of the images, the video; click here for the gallery)
Since then, many faces have come and gone (notably Helena Christensen, Stephanie Seymour, Claudia Schiffer, Daria Werbowy and so many others), however, Victoria’s Secret name has only climbed the ladder of underwear glamour and much awaited entertainment.

Mark Fast slowing down
To play on words famously sung by Dinah Washington, what a difference a bob makes. Sure, Mark Fast‘s aesthetic has softened of late. Instead of the brash, brightly coloured and figure-hugging pieces we saw last spring, his spring 2012 collection sauntered down the runway with a new-found elegance.
But on close inspection many of the daring elements are still there: the open-weave knit techniques that peep through to the skin, the often body-conscious cuts, the bared midriffs and strategic cut-outs; even an ankle length skirt that might have been demure had a slit up the middle so high as to expose the crotch. Fast never fails on the sexy count, it’s true. But this time, with those finger-waved bobs, those exotic jewels, and the tendency to leave skirt hems a little longer, that elegance came to the fore.

Anthony Vaccarello Spring 2012 collection was all black, form fitting , very sexy with deep necklines and high slits on skirts. Anthony Vaccarello inspirations for the collection - “Herb Ritts in the nineties, the way he captured the beauty of the body,” he said. “And the idea of a dress that’s like a swimsuit, and a swimsuit that’s like a dress—and wearing them in a pool at night, with the moon on the water.”

The Sexiest Looks From Milan Fashion Week
Can anyone do sexy as joyfully as the Italians? Only Dolce & Gabbana could make wearing vegetable prints insanely sexy. In Milan, the crop top made a huge comeback, and while we’re wary of the look in real life, we adored the trend on the runway. There was an overt flirtatiousness from designers, who played with sheer fabrics, thigh-high slits, and dresses that fell off shoulders in the most enticing ways. From lush, exotic pieces and draped satins to sexy suiting and retro-fitted swimsuits, Milan inspired the Sophia Loren in all of us. Prada’s Marilyn moments: runway video
Crossing the boundaries between the ’50s and the ‘60s, Miuccia Prada’s collection for spring 2012 was as much Marilyn as it was modern. With prints and a vintage colour palette and hints of midriff above demure skirt lengths, it’s a Prada collection that didn’t shock, but did wow – especially where full-briefed vintage style swimsuits were on centre stage.
