Spring 2012 Fashion Trend: Chic Sportswear

Alexander Wang, BCBG, three.1 Phillip Lim and Bill Blass Spring 2012 RTW | ELLE
Thanks to quite a few designers’ Spring 2012 collections (and possibly the upcoming Olympic games) items like sweatshirts, crop tops, track pants, sneaker wedges and mesh have turn out to be key trends this season. Even so, we are not talking your run-of-the-mill fitness center clothes here — instead luxe, amped-up sportswear featuring clean lines and chic detailing is all the rage.

Strapped and sporty
Where once swimwear options were strictly limited, the bikini trends for 2011 and into 2012 span a vast gamut of styles. At one end of the spectrum you can find feminine, vintage-inspired styles. At the other, sporty, sexy monokinis with edgy statement strapping.
This stunning photo series by Antony Nobilo focuses squarely on the latter. Fabric crosses over, twists, turns, and straps the body with hugging closeness. The styling by Sarah-Jane Cook adds to the modern feel by way of edgy accessories: studded cuffs, layers of chains, leather pieces.

Setting the bar on sporty-chic
You might disagree on some level – but wearing lingerie as outwear is one degree of sexy, and then wearing a sports bra as the only piece is groundbreakingly sexy. Hanne-Gaby Odiele’s off-duty style proves it.
The strategic all-white styling, from the nail enamel down to the shoes, compliment her lean physique. It’s almost like looking at a moving cloud, for which the wind blown wide-legged pants deserve some credit. This stomach-baring sports bra isn’t the kind you’d want to exercise in. Especially when you have abs like these. Ever wondered how to induce effortless luxury into a sporty-chic look? Bookmark this page.

Colette & Aston Martin
Written by Allan Barger
In the coming months we’ll be seeing Missoni team up with Target and Versace with H&M. However, designer diffusions do not often go in a less costly direction. The 1st time we truly took note of this was when we stumbled across the ridiculously quick Bugatti Veyron which had been re-styled by Hermes. In the same year, Hermes worked alongside Citroen to make a 1-of-a kind ’89 2CV. Both of these by their nature had been out of reach for most everyone. An individual appears to have been taking notes on their advertising achievement.
In May possibly, we told you about Fiat and Gucci. Today, landing on our desk is the news that the masters of the fashion-cross-brand, colette, have teamed up with Aston Martin to bring fourteen bespoke built Cygnets to the market place. The Cygnet is Aston Martin’s new microcar providing, with only a 1.3L engine it is far removed from the company’s typically sporty offerings. You can see a list of features included in the bespoke colette version soon after the jump.

Filippa K S/S collection gives sensual yet manly look
Men’s Spring Summer 2010 collection represents Filippa K AB in its casually relaxed approach to men’s dressing – to play around and to mix and match the different pieces for an individual look. There is a balance of classic tailoring and modern styling, where the garments have a softer and more drapey yet elegant cut. New basics feel more important than ever, ranging from the perfectly cut chino and the modern fit polo shirt to the sporty nylon jacket and the timeless car coat.
Florida of the 1980’s with its easy-going mood and breezy feel has been a major source of inspiration. The juxtaposition of masculinity, lightness and playfulness in colour and cut, gives a look that is sensual yet manly and relaxed with a hint of glamour. Softly tailored suits mixed with casual t-shirts and espadrille style shoes sums up the mood.
To get that crumpled laid back look, most of the fabrics are pre-washed. The casual look can be found on cotton summer suits, as well as shirts ranging from classic white styles with rolled up sleeves to brighter tropical check patterns and sand washed silk. Jersey tops are either relaxed pastel t-shirt styles with generous necklines and button fronts or more sophisticated with collars and detailing. Linen is a summer favourite, ranging from sloppy knits and jersey tops to elegant summer suits.
