Rumor: Kanye West Taps Mark Fast for Fall

Though Kanye West has been holed up in London working on his fall collection—and his new album—the rapper only made it to one London Fashion Week show on the last day: Mark Fast‘s. A far cry from the days he was spotted in nearly every front row from Christopher Kane to Vivienne Westwood, rumor has it the lone appearance is due to Fast’s new gig behind the scenes at West’s label. West’s debut collection, shown during Paris Fashion Week this past October, was designed with help from Louise Goldin, the Central St. Martin’s grad known for tight, bright knits and using surprising fabrics like lurex and metallics in otherwise traditional knitting patterns.
Fast, another St. Martin’s alum, first caused a splash three years ago when he sent plus size models down his runway wearing body-hugging knit dresses. Now they’re worn by it-girls from Julia Roitfeld to Rihanna, making him a solid choice for West’s design team. Sounds like we’ll have to wait until the designer shows his second collection in Paris (9:30 PM on March 6th) to find out if Fast really is involved—and what he can do for the brand.

Stella McCartney had a special presentation tonight in London, and it sounds like it was possibly the greatest thing that ever occurred. We had been sadly not there, but we are giving the endurance tweeting award to Grazia, who kept us up to speed about what was happening inside the venue. And a lot occurred. Read more…

Party Icon: Whitney Houston
Written by Adele Booth
This particular instance of us endlessly recycling the past is probably not going to impress Daphne Guinness one bit, but frankly we can’t help it! There’s definitely some sort of fashion crossover between the impending party season and one mighty cheesy (yet pretty memorable) movie: The Bodyguard. Whitney Houston’s wardrobe for this early Nineties flick- about a famous singer being protected from a stalker by a former Secret Services agent, who she naturally falls in love with- is full of cracking bejewelled ‘icon’ dresses and a whole heap of leather, and sudenly apt again! So, where are the links?

Whitney takes to the stage in the film (as singer Rachel Marron).
Celebrities Love…Antonio Berardi

Based on the red-carpet choices of Hollywood’s best dressed recently, the designer of the moment is Antonio Berardi.
From Olivia Wilde to Eva Longoria, celebs are crazy for Berardi’s figure-hugging dresses and creative work with unique fabrics and techniques. With his self-proclaimed ‘striking, classical, dressed-up’ aesthetic, Berardi definitely knows how to make a woman look – and feel – beautiful.
Berardi grabbed our attention early on this season when Rihanna arrived for her UK Reb’l Fleur fragrance launch in a bright aqua look.
Aussie Rules: The Hot Australian Labels to Look Out For!
Isabel Lucas
We Are Handsome

Now that Halloween is over we officially don’t have anything to look forward to until Christmas. Sorry, November, but with your dank days, leafless trees and pressure to pretox, you really just don’t do it for us.
But rather than pull our cashmere scarves closer and weep into out cup-a-soups we’re taking it as the perfect opportunity for a bit of fashion escapism, and what better place to zone in on than the vernal land of Australia, where the cool girls are just beginning to break out the tawny limbs in preparation for a blistering hot summer?
To celebrate, we wanted to take a look at some of the hottest Aussie labels of the moment. Unlike the French invasion (Maje, Sandro, The Kooples – sacre bleu, invadeurs!), the Australian invasion is a stealth attack, with the offbeat fashions making their way into our finest department stores piece by floaty cut-out piece.
Fashion News: Miranda Kerr previews Victoria’s Secret $2.5-million bra
Victoria’s Secret angel Miranda Kerr gave a preview of the handmade, $ 2.5-million bra that she will wear during next month’s Victoria’s Secret catwalk extravaganza. The bra (shown on a mannequin — most people will have to wait until the show, slated to air Nov. 29 on CBS, to see Kerr model it) reportedly took a London jeweler 500 hours to hand-sew on 3,400 gems — including diamonds, pearls, citrines and aquamarines. It also has a tassel centerpiece adorned with two 8-carat white diamonds and two yellow 14-carat diamonds. [Telegraph]
Fashionable First Lady Michelle Obama explained her wardrobe philosophy: “I have to wear what I love,” she said. “I have to feel good in it. My day-to-day wardrobe choices are very practical. I’m like, ‘What’s the temperature?’ ‘Am I going to be sitting in the grass?’ ‘Will I be playing with kids?’ ‘Can I sit on the floor?’” [People]
Rihanna’s new video for “We Found Love” features a voice-over by model Agyness Deyn, and it gives us the answer to just why that Irish farmer kicked the video shoot out of his field a while back. Rihanna was topless. [The Cut]
Paris Fashion Week Spring / Summer 2012 – Viktor & Rolf
A finale of models walking through the oversize skirts of French singers Brigitte? It could only be the spectacle that is a Viktor and Rolf show!

This show was everything that makes Viktor & Rolf so exciting. Pretty, girlie dresses were dressed up with ‘kooky’ touches and quirky details. Trends like cobalt blue and brocade were obvious, but they were given the V&R spin with oversize blanket stitching, big swirly lace-inspired overlays, and cupcake frills. The finale ballgowns were particularly fun, and no doubt fans like Rihanna will be falling over themselves to snap up these pieces for big events.
