Here’s What Happened at Kanye West’s Show Today, Plus the First Review Is In
We weren’t at Kanye West’s show right now, but in this age of Twitter, you virtually don’t have to be anyplace anymore–just follow a couple of properly-placed people and you are all set. Plus it is enjoyable to piece it all together, sort of like a scavenger hunt.
So, here goes:
First Look: Sergio Rossi Premieres Kinky New Fashion Film ‘Skin to Skin’
Last night in Milan, Sergio Rossi debuted a new fashion film directed by I Am Love director Luca Guadagnino (who has been creating the fashion film rounds lately–he also directed a film with Waris Ahluwalia and Agyness Deyn for the Luxury Collection Hotels and Resorts) titled “Skin to Skin.” It is an apt title as the film showcases designer Francesco Russo’s hyper-sexy fall 2012 collection on model Diane Dondoe wearing quite small else.
Set in a darkened space, empty save for a throne made of animal horns, the film follows model Dondoe as she armors herself in Rossi’s seductive, bondage-inspired collection–from a leather bodice, to a laced-up leather bra, to a necklace featuring a primitive-looking horn amulet and, of course, the shoes: There are skin-tight thigh high boots with leather stitching running up the leg, python stilettos, and some scene-stealing lace-up stilettos with a strip of skin running down middle resembling a spinal cord.

Geek Chic: Fashion Inspired by The Lord of the Rings

Considering that I write the Geek Chic column right here at CF, it should come as no surprise that I obsess over a lot of sci-fi/fantasy series. Of all these, though, it’s The Lord of the Rings that will often be my…precious… and the one tale to rule them all.
J.R.R. Tolkien’s story of nine unlikely allies and their epic quest to save Middle-earth is beloved by millions and has been adapted several occasions. Peter Jackson’s critically acclaimed film adaptations starred Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Viggo Mortenson, Sean Bean, Orlando Bloom, John Rhys-Davies, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, and Sir Ian McKellen as the Fellowship of the Ring and won a total of 17 Academy Awards. (The Return of the King won all of its 11 nominations and was the 1st and only fantasy movie ever to win Finest Picture!)

Soon after the very first Geek Chic post on fashion inspired by Star Trek, the comment box was inundated with requests for an inspiration post about another lengthy-standing bastion of the science fiction globe: Doctor Who.
How do I start to describe the magic that is Medical doctor Who? All I can say is that last summer, my best friend convinced me to watch the very first episode of the revived system.
