We covered superheroes and hobbits and physicists (oh my!), but we’ve yet to talk about one of the most obsession-inducing tv shows ever: LOST.
15 Summer Party Dresses You’ll Want To Wear!
And yes, this is a nice turn of the Favorite Summer time Dress issue. Multiplied and festive! Which I can only hope you will find valuable and inspiring for your certain wants.
It’s summer, after all, that alone needs to be celebrated! And since the weekend is almost upon us and some of you currently have plans for parties, cocktails or dinner with friends, I thought it would be a very good time to show you these. I picked some party dresses I’d put on myself, on various occasions, fancy, casual, pretentious or precious, there’s a little some thing for everybody. I think. Hit the jump button, let’s get to it!

Heavily inspired by Candice Swanepoel’s bike ride outfit, I picked this Haute Hippie Strappy Printed Dress since it can be glammed up or down based or what you require it for: for day, suffice to put on it like it is in the image. For night or unique occasion, just add a few golden facts (like shoes and more festive jewelry) and you are set! (presently $ 395 at Neiman Marcus)
Rotter & Friends Celebrate Record Store Day
Photo: David Black
The band T-shirt is nothing short of iconic—as evidenced by the vintage tees going for hundreds of dollars on eBay—but Rotter & Friends’ ongoing collaboration with the record label Light in the Attic gives the closet mainstay its quite personal soundtrack. To celebrate Record Shop Day (tomorrow) Brooklyn-based artist Jess Rotter drew up a Lee Hazlewood top that is becoming released in tandem with the album The LHI Years: Singles, Nudes, & Backsides. “Lee Hazlewood is a large legend and songwriter and I feel that this is absolutely going to get a response,” opines Rotter. She ought to know—for the past handful of months she’s been “in a huge Lee Hazlewood zone—the transition from winter to spring, drinking a lot of wine and listening to Lee Hazlewood. The song “My Autumn’s Accomplished Come,” that is not on the record but that was just on repeat the whole time when I was working on [the T-shirt].” We spoke with Rotter to come across out just what it was about Hazlewood that makes him T-shirt worthy—and how to style an outfit around it.
ELLE: How did this collaboration come about?
Jess Rotter: This is my fourth collaboration with Light in the Attic, and it is cool for me since they’re a reissue label, so it is kind of a best fit. We’re like sister and brother businesses, in a way. I like working with them because they put out a lot of music that I believe in, and it’s also official—it’s kind of great acquiring approval directly from the artist or household. This is cool because Lee Hazlewood’s widow gave us the thumbs up. We’re also going to be putting out yet another T-shirt a lot more towards the summer on a Country Funk project we did.
ELLE: Is it difficult to settle on an image that will serve as the inspiration for your illustration?
JR: I usually get really challenging in the zone exactly where I’m just researching pictures and nonstop listening to the music. It’s type of a little bit of a trip. But Light in the Attic sent me an archive of never-ahead of-observed photos of Lee, which is really cool to see. They had been an inspiration, but I didn’t in fact use them. 1, which is the album cover, is Lee with a group of women about him wearing glasses and mustaches and they’re topless. It was just so racy and ballsy! That’s where I got the concept that this dude, he’s such a hunk and he’s so confident and he’s continuously got a cigarette in his mouth and usually clad with babes about him. That’s why I believed of the babe lettering—I just constantly image him sandwiched by ladies or Nancy Sinatra and Ann-Margret.

Is Girls the First Show to Realistically Depict How Single Career Girls In NYC Dress?
Girls premiered last night on HBO and it was every little thing I hoped it would be–honest, intelligent, hilarious and realistic. Lena Dunham just gets it. Whilst the first episode lived up to the hype for most of us, there has, think it or not, been some criticism. The L.A. Occasions seemed to assume it was as well self-aware Two-and-a-Half Guys creator Lee Aronsohn mentioned last week that tv had reached “vagina saturation” meaning there are too numerous shows about girls The Hairpin noticed how disappointingly white it is and Andrea Peyser felt that Lena Dunham was as well fat.
Nevertheless, we’ve but to come across one particular critique of the show’s wardrobe, which, like the show itself, is closer to reality than just about any of the equivalent shows that came prior to it. Maybe so much so that most individuals wouldn’t notice it. It’s not a fashiony show and it’s unlikely to make any designer a household name the way Sex and the City did for Manolo Blahnik. If something, we could see some of the characters lusting right after a pricey A.P.C. blouse for a job interview or a pair of Rachel Comey shoes from Bird. Aside from the obviously comparable Sex and the City, many shows have depicted the lives of single profession women in the large city, but we don’t feel any of them have carried out so with as considerably accuracy as Girls.

Geek Chic: Fashion Inspired by The Hunger Games

By now, you’ve probably heard the buzz surrounding Suzanne Collins’s popular young adult trilogy The Hunger Games. With the first movie adaptation coming out in a little over two weeks (March 23rd!), it’s prime time for a Geek Chic post about fashion inspired by Panem!
The Hunger Games is an addictive blend of dystopian horror novel, action thriller, makeover show, star-crossed romance, and Project Runway. For a YA book, it’s surprisingly heavy stuff, with a ton of graphic violence and implied social commentary. The movie adaptation stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth as romantic triangle members Katniss, Peeta, and Gale.
