Boy bands are back, and this time around, they hail from across the pond. Formed by Simon Cowell for the 2010 season of the UK X Element, One Direction consists of 5 guys: Niall, Louis, Zayn, Liam, and Harry. The guys entered the competition as solo acts and left as a group, coming in third on the show.
The British and Irish boys are making girls all more than the globe swoon, and they’ve got talent to back it up! Geek Chic: Fashion Inspired by The Big Bang Theory
No column known as Geek Chic would be complete without an inspiration post on The Large Bang Theory, which is practically television’s adore letter to the geek planet. It is a show that manages to simultaneously mock and celebrate the enthusiastic obsessions that define geekiness. What much more could a girl ask for?
Just before we begin, I just want to reiterate that my goal is not to recreate costumes but to interpret the characters’ types into wearable looks for college girls. In case you haven’t been following couture week, Chanel held their show this past week, and even though the clothes had been incredible, the show’s setting was even moreso…. It was held on a plane. Yes, an AIRPLANE. Oh, Chanel, we really like you.

Stella McCartney unveils Pre-Fall 2012 collection
Stella McCartney threw one more one of her casual-yet-cool parties to help launch her Pre-Fall 2012-13 collection last night. The British designer took more than the New York restaurant 1 If By Land, Two If By Sea to unveil her most up-to-date styles. With her pals Liv Tyler and Naomi Watts in attendance, Stella kicked off her 10th year anniversary with an English preppy collection which seemed in accordance with what she wore expanding up.
To show off the clothes in a relaxed manner, models grouped together to play snooker and socialise. According to WWD, they wore “tuxedo tailored coats with a hint of couture curves in the caped sleeves, pyjama-like pants and square tops accomplished in pop-colored monogrammed embroideries.” For evening, Stella showed looks which featured embroidered lace and metallic brocades.
Speaking lately to British Vogue’s February concern, Stella admitted to becoming like any other regular busy mum of four. Despite the glamorous nature of her job and her celebrity posse of mates, she is far from becoming a party girl.

Some of you might remember an article I wrote a while back that considered a selection of key items that for many of you – including me – had become overloaded or over worn. Clothes that had lost their individuality, their sense of style, their uniqueness and viability; for want of a better phrase, they had become mainstream or easy fashion. If you haven’t read it, take a quick look – A Fashion Debate – Style Overload? – because this article will then make a great deal more sense.
Said article was also the basis for an interesting discussion with arguments being raised on both sides, and which also identified some other items that people considered as being overloaded. We here at FashionBeans whole heartedly agreed with many of the points raised, but never let it be said that we won’t vigorously defend the rights of clothes under persecution because we weren’t prepared to give up on these items without a fight.
