By now, you’ve probably heard the buzz surrounding Suzanne Collins’s popular young adult trilogy The Hunger Games. With the first movie adaptation coming out in a little over two weeks (March 23rd!), it’s prime time for a Geek Chic post about fashion inspired by Panem!
The Hunger Games is an addictive blend of dystopian horror novel, action thriller, makeover show, star-crossed romance, and Project Runway. For a YA book, it’s surprisingly heavy stuff, with a ton of graphic violence and implied social commentary. The movie adaptation stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth as romantic triangle members Katniss, Peeta, and Gale.

Sunday night is the 84th Academy Awards, and stars will be pulling out all the stops for their Oscars red carpet moment. The night never ever fails to bring us a handful of fashion surprises, but a single thing we can guarantee is that you will have an amazing night if you enjoy glamorous gowns!
On Sunday, team Catwalk Queen will be having a tiny Oscars party of our own, livetweeting the red carpet and updating the internet site as soon as the photos come in so you can see the gowns for oneself.
In my function as resident Oscars specialist, I usually predict what I believe folks will wear, and while they usually pull a thing new and thrilling out of the bag to prove me incorrect, it really is still fun to guess.

Whether it’s Grace Kelly’s prom-style dresses, Marilyn Monroe’s pencil skirts or Jean Shrimpton’s backcombed hair – this season’s biggest trends have walked directly off the screen. And our fascination with Wallis Simpson has been reignited thanks to ‘W.E’, Madonna’s directorial debut.
In the film, Andrea Riseborough plays Ms Simpson, the woman who nearly brought down the royal family when, in 1936, she fell in love with King Edward and caused him to – gasp! – abdicate. Andrea looks exquisite in tea dresses, skirt suits, furs and jewels galore. Madonna herself has worked the ‘40s trend for every recent red carpet appearance but what of Ms Riseborough?

Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Jessie J: The Best Dressed at the MTV EMAs!
It was all going down in Belfast last night when the MTV EMAs rolled into town, bringing with it a gaggle of our favourite style stuntwomen. We’re talking Katy Perry, Jessie J and Lady Gaga who thrashed it out with a parade of suitably bonkers outfits created by the equally bonkers Jeremy Scott and Paco Rabanne. Oh, and Bar Refaeli and Hayden Panettiere were there too, but whatevs. So the question is: WHO was the Best Dressed?
She wore a Jeremy Scott mini-frock to the MTV EMAs last year so it was no surprise to see Katy Perry cracking out another kooky Jezza number – and this time, she accessorised with the designer himself! We’re loving KP’s Spring / Summer 2012 rockabilly look consisting of a one-shouldered dress under a studded leather jacket avec white ankle socks and platform ankle boots. Her pin-up pink curls and colour-popping lip are perfect for polishing off that retro vibe.

Here is a roundup of the rest of the looks from the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Awards Honoring Iman And Missoni, which took place in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday evening.
Gabrielle Union: The actress wore a beautiful pink ombre Missoni v-neck gown. The two downsides are that she posed on the runway with her hands in her pockets and that her foundation is too light for her complexion.
Sofia Vegara: The buxom babe looked very elegant in her blue zigzag-print Missoni dress. The dress is a tad too long, but looks stunning nonetheless. Soft, tumbling curls and a coral stone cuff with matching earrings completed her look.

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell Get Wed in Stella McCartney!
Aw, there’s nothing that warms Grazia Daily‘s heart quite like a wedding. So how happy are we to see Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell tie the knot this weekend in an intimate ceremony? Well, very. Holding hands, the Beatle and his bride emerged from Old Marylebone Town Hall in central London yesterday through a cloud of confetti to greet cheering fans. ‘I feel absolutely wonderful,’ Sir Paul said as he raised his bride’s hand in triumph before the couple headed to a star-studded reception at his nearby mansion.
Nancy, a 51-year-old American heiress, looked gorgeously elegant in a long-sleeved, knee-length ivory dress designed, naturallement, by Stella McCartney. She teamed the dress with silver peep-toe sandals and wore a delicate ivory flower in her brunette hair, which was left loose in a K-Middy stylee. Meanwhile, the groom – married for the third time – wore a dark blue suit and tie, also created by his designer daughter. And keeping it in the family, his seven-year-old daughter Beatrice, from his second marriage to Heather Mills, acted as the adorable bridesmaid.
