Fashion Sneakers: Kenzo Vans
My beloved Converse had been impatiently waiting for the warm season so they could pop their pretty pink laced head out of the closet. Besides, you know I’m a sneaker freak and I constantly appear for far more laced beauties to stare at and dream of.
Today’s Style Sneaker medal belongs to the new Vans by Kenzo. Starting May possibly, all through June and July 2012, a new colorful fashion makeover of the classic Vans sneakers is obtainable in Kenzo and Opening Ceremony retailers, as reported by Out. As you may have previously heard, the genius duo behind OC, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim were appointed at Kenzo with primary objective to rejuvenate the iconic fashion house. And this, in my opinion, is a pretty invigorating move! (click through for far more)

Interviews with Fashion Insiders: Editorial Assistant Christina Garofalo

For the second interview in the Interviews with Fashion Insiders series, I knew that Christina Garofalo, who is an Editorial Assistant at Robb Report Magazine, would be the ideal pick.
From styling photo shoots to editing articles, Christina’s job brings a thing new – and fascinating – each and every day. And like our very first interview topic Chrissy Sheahan, Christina also did not study fashion in college – additional proof that style school is not a necessity in this organization! So with out further ado, here are some tips and stories from a correct fashion insider.

3 Cheap & Easy Ways to Spruce Up Your Space for Spring Semester

Well, it’s 2012 already, and fall semester completely flew by! The Spring 2012 semester is undoubtedly a lot closer to this side of the holidays, and with it comes the anxiety that goes along with a return to campus.
Of course, when I need to have a fresh outlook on life, the 1st factor I do is spruce up my bedroom! There’s no greater way to revitalize and prepare yourself for whatever life throws at you, and it’s thankfully a relatively effortless approach for the low-spending budget college fashionista. Just waking up in a slightly (or drastically) revamped room can completely modify your attitude and get you out of bed with a smile.
Has fashion advertising had it’s wake up call?
Written by Adele Booth
We tried to lay off the age-obsessed weekly FFL debates for a bit (so there’s been a whole load of coverage on the fur question to make up for it), but it’s been hard to ignore such shifted focus onto fashion advertising campaigns recently. First, Marc Jacobs’ ‘Oh, Lola!’ fragrance ad- the one where teen actress Dakota Fanning rests a perfume bottle between her legs- came under fire from the Advertising Standards Agency for being too provocative: with the ASA claiming not just that the set-up looked inappropriate, but that Dakota looked even younger than her 17 years. Then now comes the UK-wide banning of Bruce Weber’s Miu Miu campaign, which features True Grit actress Haillee Steinfeld dressed up in Prada’s sister label’s Autumn/Winter’11 clothes.

Jean-Paul Goude’s First Paris Exhibition
Jean Paul Goude’s Grace Jones Cutting.
PARIS—A proper introduction to the work of Jean-Paul Goude usually starts off with a list of his many talents: illustrator, graphic designer, photographer and advertising film director. Over 40 years, he’s produced enough intelligent art to earn an exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. It’s his first show in Paris, and the perfect opportunity for viewers to gain an understanding of his unique world view.
Conceived as a giant installation, Goudemalion features some of the multimedia artist’s most legendary works, like the photo of Azzedine Alaia and Farida Khelfa, as well as the memorable images of his muse, Grace Jones. Goude, who turned the doyenne of New York’s underground disco scene into an international superstar, considered himself Jones’ Pygmalion, hence the name of the show.
Goude revolutionized the advertising world in the eighties, reinventing the visual identities of brands such as Perrier, Kodak and Citroën through commercials which were broadcast around the world. One of his best advertising campaigns is undeniably Chanel’s Egoïste perfume in 1990, and he recently shot the film for Prada’s new scent, Candy, featuring the French actress Léa Seydoux.
Marc Jacobs’ Oh, Lola fragrance ad banned in the U.K.

Those folks at Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority have come down hard on Marc Jacobs’ ad campaign for his Oh, Lola fragrance. It has ruled that the ad which stars Dakota Fanning is “irresponsible and likely to cause serious offence.” As such it has been banned from appearing again in its current forms.
The ad features Dakota with an oversized perfume bottle between her legs which has been considered as “sexually provocative.” The ASA stepped in after it received four complaints from the ad, which was photographed by Juergen Teller, appearing in magazines in August. The ASA found that while Fanning was 17-years-old they “considered she looked under the age of 16,” hence it breached two of their codes: social responsibility and harm and offence.
In response to the ban, Jacobs said: “It was our pleasure to work with Dakota Fanning for the Oh, Lola campaign. She is a smart, pretty, interesting, talented young woman, and we would never have suggested an advertising concept that we thought was inappropriate. I believe she is also very thoughtful about the projects she takes on and would not have done something that she felt was in questionable taste. It’s really unfortunate that people have taken anything negative from what we believe is a really good campaign, and one that so perfectly embodies the fragrance.”

LONDON, United Kingdom — There are two ways in which a fashion magazine can be successful: either by featuring clothes with which the reader can identify or by stimulating the reader’s imagination. It is the old tussle between commerciality and creativity. Except, of course, it isn’t a tussle that existed before fashion magazines became mass market and needed to chase and keep readers who, for most of the twentieth century, never even opened a ‘glossy’ magazine, which until the fifties was still a very exclusive and small circulation type of publication.
Sky Ferreira & Lara Stone Made Out for Calvin Klein
Photo: Ck One Shock
Calvin Klein’s Ck One Shock fragrances have arrived on store shelves—and now, the racy ad campaign starring fashion’s cool kids is hitting magazines and TV screens. Yesterday, we sat down with several members of the tight-knit cast (they all worked together on the revamped Ck One campaign earlier this year) to get the behind-the-scenes scoop. Below, we chat with Rob Evans, Sky Ferreira, and Ian Mellencamp about their steamy Steven Meisel photos after the jump!
What was the mood like at the shoot? It looks like it was pretty hot!
Rob Evans: They instructed me and Lara Stone to go into this room and make out—and I took full advantage of that! But then they told everyone to go into the room and make out. So I’d be kissing Lara and Ruby Aldridge would be kissing my neck and I just thought, this is not going to make the cut!
Sky Ferreira: I had to do some girl-on-girl. I made out with Lara too! I thought they would’ve chosen a way hotter girl than me for that. Like one of the real models. I came up to her chest, so they told us to sit down and kiss. I just let her take the lead because I didn’t want to offend her in any way. There was no tongue or anything, so it wasn’t too racy. It was sweet and innocent. Well, kind of!
Did you get to pick who you were paired up with?
Ian Mellencamp: No, it was like speed dating! I was put with Ruby. It was my first time making out with someone on camera, but the atmosphere helped make it less awkward.
RE: Yeah, it also wasn’t as awkward because we already knew everyone from the Ck One shoot that we did before. Everyone was a bit more comfortable this time.
