It’s not just our editors who have been eyeing key trends on the fall 2012 runways throughout New York Fashion Week, we asked some of our preferred front row celebrities what they believe will be the breakout hit of the season. Even though we will not know what sticks until September, right here are their predictions:
Abigail Breslin
Prediction: “The maxi-dress was constantly a summer-y type factor, but I feel like it’s now transitioning into fall and winter, also. “
Coco Rocha
Prediction: “Because it was such a warm fall/winter this season, I really feel like some issues have not been so overwhelmed with the huge jackets. The trend would be less material, less big jackets, and a lot more casual, spring-y looks. Maybe we all thought that considering that we had a hot winter, we’ll have an additional hot winter once more.”

Just simply because Fashion Week attendees are making mental lists of which pieces to buy come fall does not mean that it’s out with the old and in with the new for each and every must-have jacket, dress, or shoe, there’s a beloved item that they have no plans to part with. From the front row at Herve Leger to the presentation floor at Alice + Olivia, right here are the pieces that you will never ever, ever locate on the racks at Goodwill.
Nikki Reed: “All of my massive, baggy, chunky sweaters that are very good for cuddling with your pillow in bed. I have my mother’s [old sweaters]!”
Kelly Rutherford: “When I was carrying out Melrose Place I bought my initial Hermes bag. It was pre-Sex and the City, pre-every thing, and it was just a small box leather, black 28 Kelly bag. Back then they would take it out of the shelf and put gloves on to show you the bag, and it was a whole issue, a very unique issue. Now it is a diverse thing, but it was the initial factor I purchased for myself. This was 20-one thing years ago! That’s one particular piece I would cherish for that reason.”
Fug Girls: Red Dresses, a Hilton, and One Well-Behaved Pooch at Charlotte Ronson
Virtually as soon as we walked into Charlotte Ronson on Friday night, we heard buzz that Gina Gershon was in the constructing and made it our mission to uncover her in celebrity row. We couldn’t possibly pass up a possibility to ask her some incredibly important questions about operating with Elizabeth “Jesse Spano” Berkley on Showgirls, and regardless of whether she ever breaks down and watches Cocktail when it is on cable late at night. How could we resist? That’d be like bumping into Berkley herself and neglecting to sing a few bars of “I’m So Excited” from that Saved By The Bell episode with the caffeine pills. It’s just not accomplished.
We began down at the end exactly where Russell Simmons was perched subsequent to his niece, Angela, who brought along a pet dog. Just as with children—of which there was also one in the front row—we often wonder how men and women have the intestinal fortitude to bring dogs to a fashion show, simply because what if they pull a Thomas Jane and bolt onto the runway mid-show? If a thirty-a thing actor doesn’t know greater, how could a pet? Fortunately for Simmons, the pooch stayed put among her and Russell, and seemed totally unfazed by each the flashbulbs and the furor surrounding Nicky Hilton, who, honestly, we can’t believe is nonetheless finding invited to stuff. Nicky, wearing a red lace dress, had to wade by way of the crowd about three instances, with a trailing posse of eager journalists waiting for their photo op, before somebody identified her a seat in the vicinity of Louise Roe, Cory Kennedy, Sky Ferreira, Jessica White (in a huge fur and with a thick curtain of bangs), Twilight’s Nikki Reed, and a lady we are 95 percent confident was Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss.
