We might be gearing up for summer time fun in the sun, but Target is thinking ahead. This week the retailer transformed the Hudson Hotel’s Hudson Bar in New York into a fall fashion fête. Models had an air of wanderlust donned in the season’s biggest trends with collections from brands like C9 by Champion, Converse 1 Star, Liz Lange, Merona, Mossimo Supply Co., Mossimo Black, Cherokee, and Circo with apparel and accessories for every single member of the loved ones. Animal and abstract prints paired with bright pops of color in a blend of distinct textures with subtle details dominated, allowing fashionistas and fledglings a likelihood to play with their wardrobe without having breaking the bank.

From 9 to 5: Swimsuit Designer Gabby Sabharwal

giego From 9 to 5: Swimsuit Designer Gabby Sabharwal

Photo: Gabby Sabharwal

We like to pop in on our designer pals from time to time and see what they in fact do all day. We were especially curious about Gabby Sabharwal. There are dozens of editors turned designers, but few publicists jump in the inventive ring. Gabby, who does PR for BCBG by day and styles a brand new line of swimsuits, giego, by night (and really early morning), had a hard time keeping this from 9 to 5.

6:20AM
Wake up. How is it the morning currently? Have coffee and ask my weatherman, aka my boyfriend, about the weather for the day. This is when I contemplate what I am going to wear ahead of mentally preparing for the day. The way I dress completely determines how I feel—and my productivity for the day—so this is actually essential!

7:00AM

Second caffeine fix at Starbucks. I adore my Hudson Street Starbucks family members! Thank you Christian for often generating my iced doppio first, so that I don’t have to wait in line!

7:28AM
Choose-up Zip-Auto to drive to New Jersey to Fabric Warehouse.

Swatch X Kidrobot Watches

Swatch X Kidrobot

Plastic, kitsch and colourful are not usually associated within the normal boundaries of what’s considered cool. But when you’re dealing with Swiss watch brand Swatch ‘normal’ doesn’t apply.

Swatch timepieces mean different things to different folks (for me it’s 80s pop culture condensed into an accessory) and for a new generation of fanatics, Swatch is about hit heady new heights of collectable cool, thanks to their new collaboration with Japanese cult toy brand, Kid Robot.

Hot on the heels of the brand’s partnership with American tongue-in-cheek designer Jeremy Scott, the Kid Robot watches are hitting stores with a colourful bang. For those not in the know, KR produces wildly popular (in the right circles) niche figures; the types that could easily ignite a playground craze, and their collection of toys are individualised by a series of different artists. Swatch has taken the Super Kakkoii attitude of Kid Robot’s individual designs and applied them to fun and bold timepieces.

Expect to see these on the wrists of East London types, Japanese school girls, models and hipsters near you soon.

Duchess of Cambridge designer favorite comes to L.A.

Duchess of Cambridge designer favorite comes to L.A.
American fans of the Duchess of Cambridge’s lengthy, lean coats and slim-tailored hacking jackets can now get the royal therapy themselves. Katherine Hooker, the London-based fashion designer who has worked with her since 2005, back when she was Kate Middleton, is holding her initial Los Angeles trunk shows.

Sept. 6 and 7, she’ll be taking up residence at the London Hotel in West Hollywood, appropriately sufficient, showcasing designs such as the tailored-but-feminine Buxton coat (above, middle), worn by the Duchess to the Order of the Garter ceremony at Windsor Palace in June. (The coat is paired with Hooker’s matching Scout dress.)

The Duchess chose to maintain the ensemble monochrome, in dove gray. But the thing about Hooker’s designs is that they are all individual. Each piece is created by hand in England, so Hooker will come armed with hundreds of swatches, buttons and trims, tweeds, silks, linens and cashmeres, to decide on from. Clothing, $ 860 to $ 1,200, takes four to six weeks to complete.
