Fashion and nudity have lengthy gone hand in hand and, whilst she was Vogue Paris’ editor, Carine Roitfeld was one of its biggest proponents. So significantly so that a lot of the commentary around the new, post-Roitfeld Vogue Paris has revolved around its distinct lack of ‘porno chic’.

Carine Roitfeld doesn’t like that point nevertheless. In fact, she abhors the term altogether. It is a surreal moment when two fashion icons combine forces by sitting down for an interview together. In this instance it is Karl Lagerfeld who is interviewing Carine Roitfeld for yep, you guessed it Interview magazine! With Lagerfeld’s odd way of putting things and Roitfeld’s fun sense of humour, this one was constantly bound to be fascinating. Take for example this strange tidbit concerning naked photo shoots…


LAGERFELD: There’s a huge difference among photographing naked boys and naked girls.
ROITFELD: I was too shy, at 1st, to come close to these naked guys. I would stand a little methods away from them. With girls it’s much simpler.
LAGERFELD: I believe it’s easier simply because naked men are much more awkward.
ROITFELD: Yes and then there is usually a bit of seduction to it when one individual is clothed and the other is naked, which can be a little weird. Everyone need to be naked. In that case, it would be less complicated, wouldn’t it? Let’s do a massive naked photo shoot!
