How to Wear the Colored Denim Trend

colored denim How to Wear the Colored Denim Trend

Practically overnight, colored denim has turn out to be the biggest trend to hit the streets. Personally, I enjoy the trend — it’s a fantastic way to switch up your denim uniform, and the bright, cheerful colors are excellent for spring and summer! As with any trend, though, figuring out how to wear it (with no spending a ton of money) can always be a dilemma.

Effectively, let CF take the guesswork out of it! Below, I’ve come up with four great techniques to rock candy-colored jeans with items that are possibly already in your closet. Read on, ladies!

Spring is constantly my favorite time for experimenting with makeup – there are often so numerous enjoyable runway trends to try! Louis Vuitton take their men on a trip

The Louis Vuitton men’s spring 2012 collection was not just a rebirth of the fashion house’s menswear offering under designer Kim Jones, but also an acknowledgement of precisely what LV’s male customer is: wealthy and wont to travel. As I wrote at the time of the spring 2012 showing, the collection struck me as “something of a complete travel wardrobe.” As the release of the collection nears, that travel motif is naturally being realised away from the catwalk, no more so then in Louis Vuitton’s own editorially based promotion of it.

What’s the same, however, is that Fashionising.com is going to take you through each and every one of them. Below you’ll find a list of all of 2012′s key men’s hairstyles and haircuts. You can find a list of the key hair trends directly below, each with its own tutorial and styling insights. Below that you’ll find a full list of other hairstyles and haircuts for men in 2012.

Rockabilly hair: onwards and upwards

If style pundits were in any doubt as to the status of the rockabilly hair revival that has been gradually gaining momentum over the last two years, then the display of 1930s through 1950s-inspired retro hair at the menswear fashion shows over the past few years was the final proof they needed. Designers including the likes of Jil Sander and Thomas Maier at Bottega Veneta sent out model after model sporting playful quiffs accessorised with rockabilly string ties and greaser gear. The message was undeniable: rockabilly – specifically rockabilly hair – was back. And it remained the key vintage-revival, attitude laden hairstyle of 2010 and 2011.

2012′s fashion is here, however, and with it the status of rockabilly hair changes. But that’s not to say it’s out altogether. Anything but. In fact, with the 1950s having an influence upon spring 2012′s fashion this is one hairstyle that has ended up with relevance to both men and women and we can comfortably add it to the list of men’s 2012 hairstyles as well as women’s 2012 hairstyles.

If you’ve already taken a look at our 2012 men’s hair guide, you’ll know that the quiff hairstyle has made its comeback. As far as hairstyles go, however, the quiff and the rockabilly seem to have a number of shared attributes. What’s the distinction, then?

Finishing Touches: The Lightweight Scarf

Introduction

It seems as though there is a lot of focus on detailing within menswear at the moment. All the prevalent trends of autumn/winter 2011 include a wide variety of textures and materials, which is encouraging us to take a more three dimensional approach to dressing, in order to give our outfits depth and individuality.

The primary focus has shifted slightly; we now don’t just consider the dominant pieces that form the basis of our outfits, but instead look to the intricate details of how it is constructed as well. Of course, this should have always been the case; being classed as a well dressed male means you need to be able to pull together looks that have your own stamp on them – whether this be through choice of colours, materials or accessories.

I have been doing a lot of research recently into ways we can take our outfits to the next level. It always comes back to the small detailing touches and flair pieces that the rest of the male population would probably never consider. I already showcased the shawl neck collar last week, and even though some of you may not like them, it was there to get you thinking about a new cuts, styles and pieces that you may have never considered before. In this case it was a subtle and graceful change to your current tailoring and knitwear – but a difference all the same.

In ’12 it’s the men’s quiff that counts

It started out with a hint of the extreme, with overtones of an attitude that said “I play a six string” and the Devil may care. But like so many things, the return of the quiff to popularity has eventually seen it evolve into something more refined. Scrap that. Refined is totally the wrong word. The style of quiff may have changed but this is still an attitude-infused hairstyle, it just happens to be a very different attitude. One where the six string doesn’t matter, the Devil doesn’t get a show in, and the look sits somewhere between the moody and the broody. Think James Dean and a desire to get laid and you’re on the right track.

So in 2012 the quiff deviates from something solely early-rock to include a variation that is a whole lot less Gene Vincent and a whole lot more Elvis. Yes, Elvis was probably of your parents’ generation, but a combination of hair and hip thrusting made him stand out and, as it stands as a 2012 men’s hairstyle, that’s precisely what the quiff is about: standing out with the hope of hip thrusting.

After the break we’ll take you through the two interpretations of 2012′s quiff, giving plenty of pictures, how tos and hints for the fashioniser who wants to make this hairstyle his own. You can read on for that – but if you’d like to keep up to date with our forthcoming 2012 trend guides, be sure to subscribe to Fashionising.com’s newsletter or RSS feed.
