Ewan McGregor Advertising For Belstaff
This September, not only will we see Brad Pitt attempting to sell us Chanel No. five Perfume, but also Ewan McGregor representing for Belstaff. The Scottish Actor currently started shooting the ad campaign with Craig McDean and a variety of male and female models, as reported by wwd.
Even so, this time, we have some Twitgoodies to stare at, ahead of seeing the actual campaign later this fall. Because Ewan was most generous with his followers and he wanted to share the happy moment. And the leather. And the motorcycles. I cannot aid but wonder, even though, if Brad Pitt had been to share his Chanel moment, what would he be twitting about?

Interviews with Fashion Insiders: Editorial Assistant Christina Garofalo

For the second interview in the Interviews with Fashion Insiders series, I knew that Christina Garofalo, who is an Editorial Assistant at Robb Report Magazine, would be the ideal pick.
From styling photo shoots to editing articles, Christina’s job brings a thing new – and fascinating – each and every day. And like our very first interview topic Chrissy Sheahan, Christina also did not study fashion in college – additional proof that style school is not a necessity in this organization! So with out further ado, here are some tips and stories from a correct fashion insider.

Guerlain’s La Petite Robe Noire Perfume Animated Ad Campaign
What a lovely campaign! I’m below its spell! Guerlain’s new perfume, “La petite robe noire” (the little black dress, in French) is promoted not by a individual, be it celebrity or expert model, but by a drawing! And what a lovely drawing and what a charming animation!
The lovely function belongs to French artists Florence Deygas and Olivier Kuntzel who twisted on the original concept and came up with a modern day, tres chic and truly inviting advertising for the reworked perfume from Guerlain. Reworked, yes, for this is not the very first version of La Petite Robe Noire, oh no! There was another edition prior to this a single (which will be distributed globally, unlike its less identified predecessor dating from 2009). It’s a floral “Little Black Dress” with an adorable campaign! Come, come press play! (quite exciting selection of music – Nancy Sinatra’s These Boots Are Made For Walking – it is supposed to be about a dress, not about the boots? Just saying…)

Has fashion advertising had it’s wake up call?
Written by Adele Booth
We tried to lay off the age-obsessed weekly FFL debates for a bit (so there’s been a whole load of coverage on the fur question to make up for it), but it’s been hard to ignore such shifted focus onto fashion advertising campaigns recently. First, Marc Jacobs’ ‘Oh, Lola!’ fragrance ad- the one where teen actress Dakota Fanning rests a perfume bottle between her legs- came under fire from the Advertising Standards Agency for being too provocative: with the ASA claiming not just that the set-up looked inappropriate, but that Dakota looked even younger than her 17 years. Then now comes the UK-wide banning of Bruce Weber’s Miu Miu campaign, which features True Grit actress Haillee Steinfeld dressed up in Prada’s sister label’s Autumn/Winter’11 clothes.

Banned in Britain: Hailee Steinfeld ad for Prada
See Hailee. See Hailee Steinfeld. See Hailee Steinfeld sitting on a railroad track, dressed in Prada-owned Miu Miu. See Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority banning the ad because Steinfeld is only 14 years old and photographed in a “potentially life-threatening situation.”
No, it’s not a joke.
The star of “True Grit” was photographed by Bruce Weber, a well-known photographer and moviemaker. A Prada Retail UK spokesperson told the Guardian that the ad campaign was “part of a serious, high-fashion campaign aimed at adult women.”
Jean-Paul Goude’s First Paris Exhibition
Jean Paul Goude’s Grace Jones Cutting.
PARIS—A proper introduction to the work of Jean-Paul Goude usually starts off with a list of his many talents: illustrator, graphic designer, photographer and advertising film director. Over 40 years, he’s produced enough intelligent art to earn an exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. It’s his first show in Paris, and the perfect opportunity for viewers to gain an understanding of his unique world view.
Conceived as a giant installation, Goudemalion features some of the multimedia artist’s most legendary works, like the photo of Azzedine Alaia and Farida Khelfa, as well as the memorable images of his muse, Grace Jones. Goude, who turned the doyenne of New York’s underground disco scene into an international superstar, considered himself Jones’ Pygmalion, hence the name of the show.
Goude revolutionized the advertising world in the eighties, reinventing the visual identities of brands such as Perrier, Kodak and Citroën through commercials which were broadcast around the world. One of his best advertising campaigns is undeniably Chanel’s Egoïste perfume in 1990, and he recently shot the film for Prada’s new scent, Candy, featuring the French actress Léa Seydoux.
