Check Out These Amazing Animal Sculptures Made Out of Louis Vuitton Bags
Artist collaborations are nothing new for Louis Vuitton, but this one might be our favorite.
In honor of a new Louis Vuitton flagship opening in Sydney, Australia, British artist Billie Achilleo created a set of animals made entirely out of Vuitton handbags and accessories. And not just any animals–a kangaroo, a koala bear and a crocodile; which, as far as I know with my TV-based knowledge of Australian wildlife, are native to the country/continent. Her creations are so elaborate and detailed, it’s hard to believe they’re real, but they are.
It’s also not the first time the brand has collaborated with Achilleo on animal sculptures. She created an armadillo, a grasshopper, a chameleon and a beaver earlier this year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Louis Vuitton SLG Savoir Faire collection. Click through for more pics!

Louis Vuitton “petite maroquinerie” beautiful creatures by Billie Achilleos
I’m not much of a pet person but I wouldn’t mind having one of these luxury creatures in the house. According to WWD, London-based artist Billie Achilleos was commissioned by luxury house Louis Vuitton to create four “beautiful creatures” by layering pieces of “petite maroquinerie” (French for small leather goods). Achilleos fashioned an iguana, a bear, an aardvark and a caterpillar out of Louis Vuitton items, including wallets, coin purses, belts and handbag hardware. The designs were to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Louis Vuitton SLG Savoir Faire collection. Who knew Louis Vuitton’s leather goods were so versatile and could make such cute pets?

On May 2 the annual Met Ball kicks of the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute’s new exhibit, Savage Beauty, a retrospective of Alexander McQueen’s work. The hefty catalogue of the exhibit was recently distributed, and it features new glorious photos of some of the late designer’s most glorious pieces. The book also includes Tim Blanks’s interview with McQueen’s successor, Sarah Burton — one of the most extensive that’s been conducted to date.
Sofia Coppola’s New Louis Vuitton Bags Collection
Have you heard Marc Jacobs saying that Sofia Coppola was “a friend” in that Jimmy Fallon video? I did! How wonderful it must be to have your friends working for… ahem with you! Sofia just did another collection of bags for Louis Vuitton and she’s proudly toting the new creations already (expected to hit stores in October this year)!
And what a better luxury product representation than having it capture the flashes of thousands paparazzi cameras? The bag looks pretty normal, without any excess logo-ing or frilly accessories to make it pop. Discrete, I’d say, even to the point of losing brand identity. However, when you see Sofia wearing it, it doesn’t look quite average.
