Everyone’s Getting Naked in the Name of Fashion Today

Blame it on spring, but style folk are feeling really frisky today!

First, Terry Richardson (who, fine, is constantly feeling frisky) posted a video of Kate Upton doing the “Cat Daddy.”  A play, we’re confident, on the popular video of the 19-year-old model undertaking the Dougie in the stands of a Clippers’ game.  But this time Upton wears a bikini—the identical teeny tiny bikini she wears on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit issue—and a pair of heels in a dance that, depending on where you function, you probably do not want to watch until you get property.  The Every day News writes, “What Upton’s ten-second Cat Daddy lacks in rhythm it much more than makes up for in jiggly bits.”

Meanwhile, Tom Ford’s released the spring lookbook for his men’s collection.  Naturally, getting Ford, there are not truly a lot of clothes on display.  If you look closely even though, you can spot a suit or tie amongst the bare skin.

If you are not featured in print or the web, gaining access to you preferred designer is nearly impossible. But American Express is helping fashion savvy Platinum cardmembers obtain their dreams through their Premium Access program’s By Invitation Only events. The credit card organization recently teamed up with Marchesa to hold a private style show for the brand’s Spring 2013 Bridal collection.
spacer38 American Express Makes a Day with MarchesaInsiders were in a position to step backstage as the models finished their fittings and shot the lookbook before sitting front row for the show where Marchesa’s wedding day confections had been a correct delight. The design duo’s signature use of silk tulle and lace transformed classic silhouettes into dreamy decadence. Standouts included a full-skirted tulle ball gown and a bateau neck lengthy sleeve lace gown and complete skirt for a lot more classic bridal elegance, plus a crepe satin column gown with an embroidered illusion bodice and a lace dress with a cascade skirt for exquisite alternatives.

These who were in a buying mood were invited to a private shopping encounter with some of the styles from the existing collection as properly as the Lenox Tabletop line. Guests received hair and makeup consultations and even mingled with Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model and Dancing with the Stars vet, Petra Nemcova.

FRANKIE RAYDER STRIKES A POSE FOR SECRET SHOP

FRANKIE 3 FRANKIE RAYDER STRIKES A POSE FOR SECRET SHOP

Sarah Soquel Morhaim

Lookbooks might be a fashion mainstay (even Target puts one particular out each and every season), but rare is the vintage retailer that utilizes them to showcase their wares. Even rarer is by-appointment only vintage store run out of an apartment—so contemplate Secret Store the endangered animal of the clothing globe.

Considering that launching 3 years ago out of her apartment in Los Feliz, Los Angeles, owner Kitty Jensen has arranged photo shoots highlighting her preferred new pieces. “I enjoy lookbooks, editorials in magazines, brief films for brands…anything that provides the consumer a bit of inspiration and path into how to wear and interpret the clothing,” she explains. It aids that Jensen’s boutique attracts a slew of large-names—including Frankie Rayder and Mirandy July—who may have be willing to lend a helping hand.

The newest lookbook, shot by photographer Sarah Soquel Morhaim, functions Rayder in a sequined tux, lacy gown, and floral 1-piece swimsuit. “Both of these girls capture Secret Shop’s vibe due to the fact they have their own robust, individual style and adore to play with clothes and environments,” says Jensen. Indeed, the shoot was much more play than work, with Jensen noting that “working with Sarah is reminiscent of two little girls building forts or playing dress-up together,” and that “dressing [Rayder] up was so a lot fun, we produced a day of it.” The only downside? If you want any of the pieces featured, you will have to be fast: It’s a mix of Rayder’s personal Secret Store finds and Jensen’s current favorites.
With plans to turn Secret Store into an independent on the web boutique, stocked with not just women’s and men’s clothing but house goods and children’s lines as nicely, and a goal of eventually designing her own line for the brand, Jensen has a busy 2012 ahead of her. But show will not let that cease her from stocking up on a lot more cool vintage: “Things sell rapidly in the shop and are consistently refreshed, as I shop practically every day,” she reassures.

Poolside Americana: Wildfox Swim

Written by Alice

Though I know it’s the middle of Winter for our southern hemisphere readers, here in New York its getting to be the height of summer. Yes, sizzling temperatures, sunny skies and clammy streets means one thing: swimwear season.

Whilst you’re all likely to be digging out the mitts, and wrapping round the wooly scarves (note, you don’t have my full sympathy, your winters are still warmer than our springs), here I’m on the hunt for the perfect 2011 swimsuit. Now when I say swimsuit, I mean swimsuits, naturally. Whilst squeezing multiple options into a single tote can prove as a beach morning dilemma, the idea of summer-long strap marks seems considerably worse. Alas, a halter, a bandeau and a staple one piece rarely fall off the new seasons shopping list.

Satisfying my search for the perfect swimwear, Wildfox Couture has just released their first swim line collection. Known for its It-girl attitude and street-cult aesthetics, Wildfox is the lovechild of Kimberley Gordon and Emily Faulstitch. Founded in 2007, the brand has taken off, gaining a lot of support from global bloggers, celebrities and trendsetters alike. Drawing their inspiration from dreamy romance stories, Western female villains and ’60s beach movies, the debut swimline manages to maintain the brand’s style, with neon pinks and urban graphics contrasting ditsy florals and pastel hues.
