Vogue Is Going for the Gold With an Olympics Themed June Cover Featuring Athletes Hope Solo, Serena Williams and a Shirtless Ryan Lochte

Vogue is finding into the spirit of the Olympics for its June cover. The Fashion Spot posted this picture which promptly racked up many pages of comments on the forum. Shot by Annie Leibovitz, it features soccer player Hope Solo, swimmer (yum) Ryan Lochte sans shirt, and Serena Williams. One particular of the Style Spot commenters has some dish about the attributes inside the mag, which supposedly consists of a Mario Testino-shot Jennifer Lopez piece and a spread with Karlie Kloss and male athletes (sounds promising) also shot by Leibovitz. Joan Smalls and Arizona Muse reportedly also function in their personal editorials.

There are a handful of notables about this cover: It functions a guy (which appears to be only the fourth time that is occurred on the cover of Vogue–the final ones getting Richard Gere, George Clooney and LeBron James–and it doesn’t feature models or actresses. The cover garnered quite a few, “This is not Men’s Wellness, it is Vogue” sort observations on the Fashion Spot. We in fact find it sort of refreshing, if a tad wholesome. With those bodies they could have sexed it up and made it a bit a lot more high style.

The Met Gala Preview – who’s dressing who!

Met Gala Doutzen%20copy thumb 470x700 134273 The Met Gala Preview whos dressing who!

If the CFDA Awards are the Oscars of style, The Met Gala is the prom. It’s all about who’s going with whom. The annual occasion, which celebrates a yearly fashion-centric exhibit at The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, is co-hosted by Vogue Magazine and fashion royalty attends accordingly. This year’s exhibit is “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations” highlighting the styles of two legendary lady designers – Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada. Obviously, we can anticipate a lot of Prada. But who else will fashion’s stars be wearing? Here’s who we know is attending together (which implies the designer will dress the star).

Alexander Wang and Azealia Banks
Erdem Moralioglu and Arizona Muse
Rachel Zoe and Karolina Kurkova
Thakoon Panichgul and Christina Ricci
Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing and Joan Smalls
Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez with Isabel Lucas
Joseph Altuzarra with Lana Del Rey
Michael Kors with Kate Upton, Liu Wen, Hilary Swank and Jessica Alba
Haider Ackermann and Constance Jablonski

This takes care of a lot of top models, but what of the entertainment celebrities? Give us the goods!

Olivier Rousteing’s Psyched About His Met Date

At final night’s dinner celebrating Balmain‘s newfound interest in social media, Olivier Rousteing was gushing about his date to the Met Ball.  “She could wear a white t-shirt, and I would be so proud,” he mentioned of Joan Smalls.  The model’s topped fashion’s favorites list for virtually two years now and is the finest arm candy a guy could ask for, but she won’t wear a white t-shirt (even even though she could pull it off).   She hasn’t, even so, picked a dress.  “We will know Monday!”

Rousteing didn’t invite Smalls solely since she’ll look perfect in something, but because he really really likes talking to the model.  Turns out she’s as smart and interesting as she is beautiful—and these issues matter when you’re sitting next to an individual at a four hour dinner.  As for the designer himself—Rousteing may be the most charming, genuine and downright bubbly designer we’ve ever met—he says he will wear a “bow.”  He hasn’t worn a single because childhood, but figures his 1st Met Ball demands some thing particular.

Joan Smalls On GQ’s Lust List

And who are we to disagree? Far more so given that we adore Joan Smalls with fierce &amp fashionable passion! The girl is golden, no doubt about it, and it was about time the world acknowledged this easy truth!

GQ included Joan Smalls on their GQ 2012 Lust List (I didn’t even know they had such a thing, but Joan certainly belongs in it!). And there’s a video to justify / sustain her lust trigger. I envision high fashion individuals closing their high fashionable eyes at the sight of the following the jump video, saying that she really should only stick to couture. But why preserve her secluded from the rest of the planet? Let’s share the visual joy that is Joan Smalls! Let the globe know her and praise her! Appropriate?

Vogue Italia’s ‘Haute Mess’ Editorial: Racist Or Not? The Debate Continues

Vogue Italia’s ‘Haute Mess’ Editorial: Racist Or Not? The Debate Continues

Yesterday, Vogue Italia released their Haute Mess editorial in its entirety and we noticed a couple of people had taken to the internet to voice their opinions about it–in particular, whether or not or not it’s racist.

In the Steven Meisel-lensed editorial (which you can see right here), best models like Joan Smalls, Coco Rocha and Jessica Stam put on over-the-top, flashy ensembles (styled by Lori Goldstein) with crazy colorful weaves, heavily painted on makeup (Pat McGrath) and impractically lengthy nails while parading by means of grocery retailers and quick food chains. They look “ghetto fabulous” and appear to be depicting some distinctly American stereotypes. And, arguably, racial ones. The discussion has continued.

Fashin commenter dman90 believed the spread was also one-note:

Isabel Marant Fall 2012: Westward Expansion and E-Commerce on the Horizon

Isabel Marant Fall 2012: Westward Expansion and E Commerce on the Horizon

Isabel Marant raked in $ 82.9 million final year and has plans to open six new stand alone boutiques subsequent year in Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Paris, London and Los Angeles, according to a report in WWD. It’s not surprising, taking into consideration the queen of Parisian cool has fairly the knack for making every single season’s “it” item (see: this year’s Willow wedge sneaker and its numerous knockoffs).

Devotees of the brand, which include the A-list roster of models who walked in the show (which includes Carmen Kass, Anja Rubik, Joan Smalls, Arizona Muse, and the list goes on), won’t be disappointed with fall’s Western-inspired offerings. Due to the fact somehow, Marant tends to make cowgirl floral embroidered silk button downs appear insanely cool. Part of that cool-factor has to do with those models who wear her clothes both on the runway and off. (We overheard a story about 1 photographer who stated he couldn’t tell when Marant’s models had been in first looks due to the fact they all come to the show wearing Marant to start with).
