For anyone not stalking Andrea Seigel’s each humorist move on Twitter and Facebook–shame on you! Seigel, who is a single of HelloGiggles BFFs (yes, they seriously have a list of their BFFs) and the author of novels Like the Red Panda and The Kid Table, has offered us everyday, Twitter-sized laughs ever considering that she opened her accounts.
So, final week, when she posted, “Our movie is ‘still alive’ and ‘in a relationship’ with Paul Rudd,” we swooned more than the fact that Seigel is making a crossover to Hollywood. Her initial feature script–Laggies—follows a woman on the verge of matrimony who prefers lingering in permanent adolescence rather of taking the usual actions toward saying “I do.” The film will be in the hands of director Lynn Shelton (Humpday, the upcoming Your Sister’s Sister) and stars Rebecca Hall and, of program, Paul Rudd. To get the official scoop, ELLE sat down with Seigel to discover out more about her Laggie universe, her wry take on life, and her June 1st due date.
ELLE: What does Laggies mean?
Andrea Seigel: It is like lagging—lagging behind in life.
First Look: Watch a Young Carrie Bradshaw Talk About Sex in The Carrie Diaries Trailer

We learned this week that the CW officially picked up the Sex and the City prequel, The Carrie Diaries, and right after finding lots of sneak peeks at Carrie’s 1980s wardrobe (by Gossip Girl costume designer Eric Daman), we finally have a trailer by which to judge the show.
If you are a Sex and the City fan, you will recognize some of the very same gimmicks from the original: Carrie’s disembodied musings about life, cheesy sex jokes, and ridiculously poufy skirts. The 1980s styling is weak at best–if that was genuinely 1984, Carrie would have bangs teased at least 3 inches straight up and her boss would have shoulder pads up to her earlobes. But we are prepared to suspend disbelief for a bit, as you had to do in the original, as well. (A writer with that wardrobe? No.)

Photo: WireImage
Getting smitten with Dustin Lance Black is unavoidable. The Oscar-winner (of Milk fame) has a kryptonite combo of film star very good looks, GQ style, talent for the ages, and Texas-brand charm guaranteed to melt hearts. However it was his 2008 Oscar acceptance speech that turned the Hollywood newcomer into a voice for the disenfranchised—after he assured “all of the gay and lesbian children out there…you are lovely, wonderful creatures of value. And no matter what any individual tells you, God does really like you and quite soon, I promise, you will have equal rights federally across this fantastic nation of ours.”
Black hasn’t relented on that promise. He’s fought on the front lines—from publicly challenging President Obama on his sluggish “evolution” for marriage equality to advocating inside the community he himself grew up in. “I do work with the Mormon Church,” he says. “I’m out in Utah all the time, attempting to introduce them to gay and lesbian households.”
Black continues: “You see attitudes alter so swiftly. I would say, eighty to ninety percent of the time, as soon as they do see the truth about gay and lesbian people—who we really are—they adjust their minds. I want to be effective [in the political planet] simply because I’m fighting for my people and our families.”
Puckering Up Through the Decades: Lipstick Trends From the 1920s – the New Millenium
You already knew that hemlines and the stock industry were connected, but what about lips & the tales they tell about the instances? According to trend forecaster Li Edelkoort, the lips, physique and timeframe are all similarly influenced by whatever physique portion is well-known at the time, who the celebs du jour come about to be and most likely most importantly, the condition of the economy and size of people’s bank accounts.
The 20′s – Prohibition & Rebellion Taking their cue from the deliciously scandalous flappers, women declared a newfound independence by bobbing their locks, going out dancing & drinking illicitly distilled whiskey. Movies starring Theda Bara and her “vamp’s lips”, the sexy bee-stung kisser of Mae Murray (above) and iconic “cupid’s bow” associated with Clara Bow showcased a matte, heart-shaped mouth – feminine, yes, but daring. Edelkoort notes that due to the fact the focal body element of the time period was the legs, “breasts were smallish, and girls boyish.” Eyes were massive and lips thin. Lip colors were black and garnet red.

The Glam Globetrotter: Marrakech Day 1
Each and every now and then an offer comes up that’s just also excellent to refuse. When the Morocco Tourism Board invited me to experience Marrakech style, I knew I was in for a very special treat. And so last week I boarded a Royal Air Maroc flight from JFK to Casablanca along with Caroline Tell, Rebeccca Prusinowski of AHAlife, Stylecaster’s Susan Gertner, Kelly Framel of The Glamourai, From Me to You’s Jamie Beck, and our beautiful leader Megan Matthews and headed on a magic carpet ride. Suffice it to say, the 7.five hour journey was nicely worth the trip. What ensued was an unparalleled sensory overload. Marrakech is wealthy in background, culture, color, texture, and nightlife. From the dazzling caftans that abound, to the bright tassels that hang in the souk, to the fragrant amber, rose, and mint that can be discovered at the Berber pharmacies to the taste of a effectively-spiced tagine, Marrakech was an intoxicating delight. Here is a chronicle of my inspiring adventure:
Day 1
:
Though I was half expecting Humphrey Bogart to greet me on the tarmac at the Casablanca airport, I was just as pleased to uncover our lovely driver Aziz waiting for us at baggage claim. Immediately after we collected our more than-packed bags, we embarked on a 2.5 hour journey through the dessert and past numerous grazing pastures, modest tents, and simple enclaves of properties. At some point we arrived in Marrakech and you could virtually hear bells chiming as we initial encountered the magic of the “red city.”
Finally, we arrived at our oasis, the 4 Seasons Resort Marrakech, which didn’t disappoint. The staff was expecting us and we had been quickly treated to traditional mint tea, a symbol of Moroccan hospitality and presented with trays of honey and fruit filled pastries, fresh dates, apricots, and assorted nuts along with the gorgeous site of the 4 Seasons’ signature floral arrangements scattered throughout. Our lavish rooms combined a Moorish aesthetic with luxurious amenities mine had a divine outdoor seating location and a view of the 40-acre property’s swaying palms.

Hungry after our extended journey, we left the hotel for lunch at the Grand Café De La Poste, which felt element Old Havana, part 1920s Hollywood movie set. Originally built in 1925 in the course of the time of the French Protectorate, the restaurant the moment doubled as a sorting office. Following a round of mojitos and a light salad, we made our way back to the Four Seasons to lounge by one of the property’s two magnificent pools and seek respite from the 104 degree heat.
Later that evening we were off to one particular of the world’s oldest and most iconic hotel’s, La Mamounia. The legendary Moroccan Palace is situated inside the walls of the old city and perfectly captures a sensuous sense of art de vivre. Enchanting grounds, lush gardens, and lavish facilities make for a captivating experience. Whereas the 4 Seasons conveys a refreshing take on modern day Maroc, this property is regal and historic. Fusing Moorish and art deco designs, La Mamounia is the epitome of elegance.
