Play the *Donna Summer* Disco Diva in a Fab Floral Frock
The Queen of Disco died these days – Could 17, 2012 – so I decided to republish this fun “get the appear” post I did a handful of years back that I’m sure she would have liked! Her fashionable excellent looks and incredible pipes resulted in nineteen #1 dance hits – second only to Madonna. “Poor Girls”, “Live and More” and “On the Radio” burned up the charts, making her the only artist to have 3 consecutive double-LPs hit No. 1. She was also the first female artist with four No. 1 singles in a 13-month period according to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where she was a nominee this year.
The original diva of attractive disco is releasing a new album, Crayons, and is celebrating in true Donna Summer time style with a chi chi launch party at Mansion New York. We like to celebrate with, what else, fashion…so why not channel her iconic floral frock look? To preserve from searching like a museum piece, skip the satiny mules in favor of some thing like python snakeskin – the present need to-have neutral – and add a sexy pendant necklace, statement ring, and a clutch.
Here’s how to get the appear:
Tom Ford denies H&M rumours

It really is been virtually two years given that we broke the news thatTom Ford may well be the next designer to join up with high street retailer H&M, and following A LOT of gossip and speculation, the man himself has spoken up. According to Grazia, Tom spoke about the persistant rumours with Fern Mallis in New York on Tuesday night. “I preserve reading that, and I discover that amusing. I’ve never had a conversation with H&M. I’m actually happy doing what I do… What excites me now is the extremely very best: the best stitching, the very best fabric, the very best top quality. And however, or fortunately, that does tend to expense income.”
Unless that’s a single hell of a curve ball, it sounds as although a Tom Ford/H&M collaboration will not be on the cards any time soon, although it’s not some thing the he should write off entirely – the preceding designer collaborations with H&M have been incredibly productive for each brands involved, selling out practically right away! Perhaps Lanvin, Comme des Garçons, Matthew Williamson, Marni, Donatella Versace and Anna Dello Russo can alter Toms thoughts…
Are there any designers in particular you’d really like to see team up with H&M? Let us know in the comments!

Fashionable Home With Marni Furniture
It is not furniture per se, but since we’re in the summer time (yeah, child!), lounge furniture and outdoor furniture qualify as generic furniture. (doesn’t it?). Effectively, lengthy story short: beneath some fancy schmancy Marni furnishings pieces. Chairs, chaise longue, bench, all colorful and summer – complete.
And odd! I fear the price of these so – called fashionable house décor pieces can often exceed not just our wildest imagination by putting a tag way out of our reach. Creating the Marni furniture perfect for display purposes only – I’m particular that the boho rich folks who’d buy it, would also make excellent use of it (say once / season, when they’re in their museum – like vacation property?) Giorgio Armani designs Lady Gaga’s tour wardrobe

We’ve received some thrilling fashion and music news these days – Armani are designing Lady Gaga’s wardrobe for her forthcoming Born This Way Ball tour!
The luxury fashion brand who have collaborated with Gaga on a number of occasions, producing costumes for her 2010 Monster Ball tour as well as dressing her several times for the red carpet, released four of the bespoke designs developed for the singers highly anticipated new tour this morning. The man himself, Mr Giorgio Armani, has revealed how thrilling it is to collaborate with Lady Gaga:
“I admire the way she uses style as a scenic element and as a implies to develop a character. She is an artist of numerous talents and excellent intelligence. Making stage costumes for her is a stimulating and creative physical exercise.”
The garments function some fantastically out-there detailing such as keyboards, mirrored inserts, extreme fringing, crystal embellishments, spikes and PVC tubing…Armarni and Gaga are clearly on the same planet when it comes to dreaming up the excellent costumes! It is tough to select a favourite, but I think the very first outfit is particularly gorgeous, with its Swarovski studded wing shaped bodice, matching headpiece and thigh high spike boots – I can visualize Gaga strutting across the stage already!
Have a Seat! It’s by Marni.
For this year’s Salone del Mobile – the prestigious furniture & design fair held annually in Milan – Marni will present a collection of 100 chairs produced in Columbia by ex-prisoners as element of a project to resettle them and integrate them back into society. The style of chair is a widespread sight in most Columbian properties and has been re-interpreted by Marni in a modified weave and a selection of innovative colorways.
The chairs also give a background for a series of portraits shot by photographer & filmmaker Francesco Jodice, “L’Arte del Ritratto”, and will be featured on Marni’s e-mag, ANTICAMERA2. Funds raised from the sale of the chairs will be sale donated to the institute ICAM of Milan – a project which allows children of imprisoned mothers to devote their youth in a household atmosphere.

All the Ways in Which ‘Girls’ Has Already Been Compared to SATC
The girls of Girls. Photo: HBO
Girls finally premieres this weekend. If you reside in New York, you probably really feel as if you’ve currently seen the show. If you do not, here’s a fast history: The show’s written and directed by Lena Dunham, the twenty-5 year old smarty pants behind last year’s runaway indie hit, Tiny Furnishings. Dunham plays Hannah, a twenty-four year old Brooklynite by-way-of-the-Midwest, living with her ideal buddy Marnie, played by Allison Williams. (Yes, absolutely everyone on this show is the child of someone well-known.) Marnie, Hannah, and two other girls attempt to navigate their early 20s in New York—a usually miserable experience—while broke, confused and having awkward, not La Perla-covered sex.
Naturally, not a review’s been written that doesn’t mention Sex and the City. Below, we highlight all the techniques in which the show, which swears it’s not the second coming of Sex and the City, has been compared to HBO’s landmark comedy.
The New Yorker‘s Emily Nussbaum, for New York Magazine: “Despite the denials at HBO and by the show’s creators (it was practically a mantra on set that Girls is not the new Sex and the City), Girls is a post–Sex and the City show, albeit one particular with an aesthetic that’s raw and bruised, not aspirational. Sex and the City initial achieved notoriety when its characters debated the power dynamics of anal sex throughout a cab ride, in the course of the “up-the-butt girl” episode. In Girls, that discussion is not abstract: It is Hannah, naked, on her knees, chattering anxiously as Adam pulls on (she hopes) a condom, trying to get some reassurance that he’s not heading in the incorrect direction.”
