Carine Roitfeld Is Officially a Grandma

Just shortly right after appearing pregnant on i-D‘s cover—styled by her mother Carine, of course—Julia Restoin-Roitfeld has given birth to her initial child with partner Robert Konjic.
“We are delighted to confirm that Julia and Robert have had a healthy baby girl,” Next publicist Katy Moseley said in an official statement. “Both mother and daughter are performing quite well and resting at home.”
New grandmother—or “Madame,” as she reportedly prefers to be called—Carine has to jet off to Cannes shortly for the style show she’s staging, but we’re sure that, particularly considering that her initial grandchild is a girl, some child Tom Ford or Givenchy is currently getting planned.
Carine Roitfeld is a Grandma!
Julia Restoin-Roitfeld had her baby, according to a tweet from the often-in-the-know Derek Blasberg. “Congratulations to proud Momma @RestoinRJulia! (And thus, the chicest grannie ever: Carine Roitfeld!) Can not wait to meet the stunning infant!” he wrote. Which means, of course, that Carine Roitfeld, she of the pencil skirts and stilettos and porn-chic-ness, is a grandmother. Just do not anticipate her to answer to grandma (or grannie). She reportedly would like to be named “Madame.”
Cue the infant Givenchy…
The Marc Jacobs vs. Kidult War Rages On, Gets Real Meta
Late last week, Marc Jacobs and French graffiti artist Kidult were involved in a tiny tête-à-tête, if you will: It started when Kidult allegedly vandalized Jacobs’s SoHo storefront with his signature gigantic letters, spelling out the word ‘ART.’ In lieu of pressing charges, Jacobs retaliated by releasing a super restricted edition $ 689 cotton tee featuring a photo of his shop’s blemished facade, which read ‘Art by Art Jacobs.’ But the graffitist got none of that $ 689 per shirt (if MJ even sold any), and he was maaad. Kidult’s menacing Twitter response to this ‘collaboration?’ “LET’S PLAY, but we do not play the same guidelines!” Scary stuff.
Properly, it looks now like someone else does not play by these identical guidelines either.
Graphic t-shirt designer FRY saw the chance to take a totally meta method to the circumstance and turn a profit, according to High Snobiety. So he created a $ 35 t-shirt printed with a picture of the Art by Art Jacobs t-shirt, which is printed with the graffiti’d storefront. Genius. FRY also has a few other tees-of-tees for sale on its web site, like an image of a plain Raf Simmons tee and a graphic of a graphic Givenchy quantity.

Banana Republic Goes Slim Aarons
Coco Rocha for the Banana Republic Trina Turk collection. Photo: WWD
Freshly off her brightly-colored Met Ball turn in vintage Givenchy, Coco Rocha is slipping into one more, equally-vibrant dress, this time for Banana Republic.
Rocha is the face of the retailer’s upcoming restricted-edition collaboration with Trina Turk—60 dresses, accessories, sunglasses, swimsuits, and more, in Turk’s signature bold patterns, all inspired the Palm Springs lifestyle. Therefore, it’s only logical that the campaign would be photographed in just that locale—the Richard Neutra-developed Kaufmann Residence in Palm Springs—and inspired by a photographer known for his dreamy retro pictures of Palm Springs life: Slim Aarons. “The Slim Aarons photo of ladies getting drinks at the pool has been an inspiration for our brand,” Turk told WWD. The collection debuts June 7.

See What Everyone Wore to the 2012 Met Gala
It is the buzziest, most style-y red carpet of the year and it’s lastly right here! Welcome to the 2012 Met Ball red carpet!
Lastly, lastly, Beyonce produced it to the red carpet in the sheerest of Givenchy and the red carpet’s a wrap. So far we’re loving: Anna Wintour’s Prada-designed homage to Schiaparelli’s lobster dress Prom king and queen Tom Brady and Gisele (Gisele was also in Givenchy and suffering from a mild case of Angelina’s right leg) Emma Stone who looked like magic tinsel in Lanvin Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren because, just, damn and Lena Dunham with Hamish Bowles created for our favorite couple of the night. Also basically every person who wore Prada and Rooney Mara in Givenchy. And we could go on. But we’ll cease. It is late.

Beyonce Bares it all at the 2012 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala

Beyonce wins the award for the Met Gala’s most provocatively dressed. The new mommy was among the final to arrive at The 2012 Costume Institute Gala, but she undoubtedly produced an entrance. Beyonce was essentially nude when she hit the red carpet in a Givenchy Haute Couture gown. Riccardo Tisci designed the extended stretch illusion tulle dress, which was embroidered with black crystals, hand-cut lace motifs, and ostrich feathers in black and purple degrade. Beyonce clearly isn’t afraid to take a fashion risk and we envision Elsa Schiaparelli would have loved to dress her.

Natasha Poly’s Ange Ou Demon Givenchy Perfume Ad Campaign
Wasn’t Uma Thurman Givenchy’s Ange ou Demon girl? I believed so too… Nicely, anyway, considering that she’s pregnant and all, she’s not Givenchy’s Ange ou Demon anymore. Natasha Poly is. So there she goes, trying to convince us that she’s either 1 or the other. I say they should’ve put a lot more clothes on her if they genuinely wanted us to think Natasha could be an Angel… FgR
