Arizona & Daphne Get Teased at Derek Lam

Estée Lauder makeup maestro Tom Pecheux coined the term propre décalé to describe the girl at Derek Lam: “She’s a university student who is suitable but also a tiny twisted—there’s one thing about her that is a bit off,” he said. To convey this subtle “naughtiness,” Pecheux crafted a smoky eye that spilled more than onto the lower lash line.

Hair also contained a hint of the unexpected, thanks to 1960s-inspired texture: coiffeur Orlando Pita developed a teased, pinned-back look on behalf of Phyto Expert and Beauty.com. “It’s a girl who doesn’t stick to all the guidelines,” he says. “After blow-drying the hair with Phyto Intense Volume Mousse, I’m making use of a curling iron for added texture and teasing with Phyto Fiber Paste.”

“I wasn’t in the chair that lengthy,” insists model Daphne Groeneveld when asked about her faux bob. Off the runway, though, she prefers to wear her platinum locks sleek and straight. “My hair is truly long—I got it cut a tiny bit and I was like, that is enough!”

What We Saw Today at New York Fashion Week, Day 2

What We Saw Today at New York Fashion Week, Day 2Day two of NYFW was a breeze, with enjoyable shows from Jason Wu, Rag &amp Bone, and Kate Spade.

What did we see? Properly, we caught up with the unbelievably beautiful Hanneli Mustaparta at Rag &amp Bone, saw Coco Rocha practicing her interview skills at Jason Wu, and verified that Daphne Groeneveld is just as best in true life as she is in print.

See NYFW from our eyes right after the jump!

Meet Jason Wu’s New Signature Bag and His Adorable Kittens (Yes, At the Same Time)

006m 300x450 Meet Jason Wu’s New Signature Bag and His Adorable Kittens (Yes, At the Same Time)Target is generally attached to Jason Wu’s name appropriate now: the hype for the February 5 launch of his collection for the mass retailer has reached fever pitch with a celeb-filled pre-shop party that went down final night. The Target buzz it’s virtually adequate to make you lose sight of the lovely perform his does for his eponymous line–that is till he shows his fall 2012 collection next month.

We checked in with Wu to come across out what’s going on outside of the Target hysteria. He’s excited about his new “it-bag” called the Daphne which he unveiled as portion of his pre-fall collection. We identified out why it’s referred to as the Daphne, learned about his design procedure for accessories, and used this interview as shameless excuse to make him show us his adorable pet cats Jinxy and Peaches (maybe the inspiration behind Milu, the muse for his Target collection?).

Fashionista: Tell me about the Daphne–how did model Daphne Groeneveld inspire it, how did you arrive at the shape, why is it your signature?
Jason Wu: The Daphne bag is my take on a ’40s frame bag, modernized by a a lot softer structure and a chic relaxed attitude. I really like that it can operate as either a dressed up or dressed down bag. I met Daphne Groeneveld a few seasons ago when she very first arrived in New York and just fell in adore with her. Daphne’s striking, classic with a twist look reminds me so much of this bag that I decided to name it following her.

Why is a signature bag so important to a brand?
I always believe of a signature bag as one thing that represents the very DNA of a brand. When I designed Daphne, I felt that it embodied all the qualities my designs.

How do you method designing accessories? How does it differ from your method to designing clothes?
I have to put on a diverse thinking cap when designing accessories, even though staying true to my design esthetics. I feel a principal difference in accessory style is that you have to put a lot of consideration into its everyday functionality-it not only has to appear good, it has to final forever too.

Cavalli Spring: Three Supers & A Baby

cavalli supers Cavalli Spring: Three Supers & A Baby

Photo: Steven Meisel for Roberto Cavalli

If there had been a prize for stuffing the most supermodel star power into one ad, Roberto Cavalli would win for spring.  The Italian designer just released his campaign pictures, shot by Steven Meisel at New York’s Pier 59 Studios. They feature 3 3 supermodels—Karen Elson, Kristen McNemany and Naomi Campbell—and 1 newbie (in comparison at least), 17-year-old Daphne Groeneveld.  The behind-the-scenes video right after the jump is full of wind machines, sequins and yes, a lot of animal print.

On the Spring 2012 Campaign Trail: David Beckham and Versace for H&M, Valentino, Isabel Marant and More

On the Spring 2012 Campaign Trail: David Beckham and Versace for H&M, Valentino, Isabel Marant and More
Holy mackerel, it’s been a great day for Spring 2012 ad campaigns! Not only do we have even much more pictures of a scantily-clad David Beckham to drool over, but there’s also plenty of high fashion campaigns to get excited about.

1st up there’s Arizona Muse looking smiley and sunny in the Isabal Marant campaign, although we’re not sure how we feel about her new ‘do. Valentino has a bevy of beautiful and ethereal ladies exploring what looks like some exotic ruins. (Psst..Can anybody tell us how to do their braided updo? We’re obsessed). Next is Abbey Lee Kershaw seeking glamorous in the Versace for H&ampM Cruise collection we can’t have. Finally, Daphne Groeneveld and her mile long legs star in Jill Stuart’s campaign, set in the backseat of a posh-looking automobile.

And that pretty much sums it up! The only question that remains is: Why in god’s name does David Beckham appear so angry?

Drama out West: Lara Stone

Peter Lindburgh has a winning formula that goes a little a thing like this: lovely young model, seasoned male actor, cinematic romance.

Some past works paired Daria Werbowy with David Strathairn, Daphne Groeneveld with Pascal Greggory. The most up-to-date: Lara Stone and American actor Fred Ward.

Whilst there’s some thing inherently captivating about such a pairing – an endless fascination with younger girls and older guys – the romance in Lindbergh’s shoots is not overt nor is it sexual. It’s a romance in setting, and styling, and mood. In a few frames we can only glimpse snippets of a relationship, but in Lindbergh’s cinematic worlds, they often appear equal parts tumultuousness and tenderness.
