Madonna, Chloe Sevigny, Olivia Palermo at the New York Screening of ‘W.E.’
For our Best Dressed fix on this fine Monday, let us take you to the oh-so-swanky Museum of Modern Art in New York City where Madonna, Olivia Palermo, Valentino et al were celebrating at the Cinema Society & Piaget screening of the Pop Queen’s directorial debut, ‘W.E’.
We can only assume the dress code was strictly red, white or black (a diva demand from her Madgesty, perhaps?) judging from the scarlet frocks sported by Chloe Sevigny and Parker Posey (plus matchy-matchy tights, no less) as well as Kelly Bensimon’s rouge shoes and the splash of red on Rachel Roy’s sleeves.
Meanwhile, Madonna was staying true to her more demure promotional wardrobe with a head-to-toe black ensemble consisting of a sharp-shouldered jacket over an embellished top, super-sleek trousers and platform peep-toes heels.

Goodness me, Dazed & Confused is 20 years old today! If that doesn’t make you feel old, then you’re clearly more of a spring chicken than we are! It’s notoriously difficult to keep a magazine going in these economic times, let alone an independently owned little cool one like this, so as a salute to all involved in the iconic magazine, here are some little facts and things we love about DAZED to mark the occasion. Happy Birthday guys!
1 It was started back in 1991 as a black and white poster/zine, but quickly grew to the status of a full blown colour magazine.
2 The founders Rankin and Jefferson Hack met at London College of Printing, as it was called then, and now known as London College of Communication in London’s elephant and Castle.

Over in Paris earlier this week, FROWers were treated to quite the surprise. No, we’re not harping on about Kanye West’s collection (again) or even those broken benches at Balenciaga – we’re talking about one catwalk cameo at Kenzo which had editors clutching their Blackberries in amazement.
As a brunette catwalker in a cobalt blue jumpsuit closed the show, whispers circulated that she was an uncanny Chloe-Sevigny-a-like. BUT WAIT! That IS Chloe Sevigny! But where are her signature blonde locks? And what the blazes is she doing OFF of the front row and ON the catwalk?! Earlier this year, the frequent FROW claimed, ‘I hate going to fashion shows. I find them boring’, so is this her way of spicing things up?

Met Gala 2011 – Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty
2011 marks an anniversary I wish we would never had (at least not so early): 1 year has passed since Alexander McQueen’s death. Consequently, events have been rolled to commemorate the designer and his amazing sartorial work.
One of the most important celebrations is graced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art through the Costume Institute Exhibition: Alexander Mcqueen – Savage Beauty. Traditionally, every year, a Met Gala occurs, to mark the debut of the said exhibition. Every name and major personality in fashion is there on the big Met Ball night. Sophomore Aces Another Video Lookbook with ‘Truth or Dare’
We’ve been fans of NYC clothing label Sophomore for quite some time. And while we definitely fawn over the designs by Chrissie Miller and Madeleine von Froomer, we’re also pretty obsessed with their documentary-style video lookbooks, shot by photographer Cass Bird each season. The latest film to roll out is for their SS11 collection, and we’re loving the concept. This is Truth or Dare.

Shot at the Bowery Hotel, the film reads like a who’s-who of downtown cool, featuring actress-designer extraordinaire Chloë Sevigny, author Lesley Arfin, actress Drea de Matteo, agent/style icon Jen Brill, and tattoo artist Scott Campbell, among others. While we’re not sure if they all really do hang out and dare one another to do things like chop onions until they cry (Brill’s dare) or kiss Chloë Sevigny (Arfin’s dare), but it’s fun to watch. Although Truth or Dare is inspired by Madonna’s doc that followed her controversial Blond Ambition tour in 1990, it’s definitely not as racy. But the point here is to sell clothes—and they do it well.
