The Gentleman With the Pet Clutch
What I saw in line…
Though everyone’s taken to peacocking outside fashion week venues, London’s show-goers really excel at the style component of “street style.” Instead of wearing the Miu Miu shoe of the season with the ought to-have Céline pant and the hot new not-it bag, crowds (OK, crashers) aren’t afraid to get creative.
Yesterday, a girl walked about with an actual bird on her head (Carrie Bradshaw has nothing on this). These days, in line for Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label show, I spotted a clutch on the sidewalk. The clutch was attached to a leash, produced of chain, which was trailing behind a pair of shoes printed with monster mouths.
My first believed was of Marcel the Shell, the Jenny Slate cartoon shell so desperate for a dog that he ties a piece of lint to a string, but this guy told me that he only breaks out his pet clutch “on unique occasions.”
Dree Hemingway Poses for ManiaMania
Photo: Stacey Mark for ManiaMania
Like Miu Miu’s sparkle booties or Celine’s luggage bag, Mania Mania’s Immortal ring turned out to be an accessory of alternative amongst the fashion pack in 2011. That means, of course, that expectations are operating high for 2012 they’re appropriately starting off with a bang, albeit a quiet dreamy 1. The Aussie based jewelry brand has given us the 1st appear at their spring lookbook, starring the increasingly ubiquitous Dree Hemingway rocking little more than gold and silver. The pictures, shot by Stacey Mark, need to reflect the cults and communes that ran up and down California in the late 60s and 70s. A press release name checks everyone from the Beatles to Dionysus and explains which pieces are meant to “honour the light and dark auras and opposing forces of Apollo.” Not sure what that signifies? May well be simpler to click through and see for your self. We promise you’ll like it. (Some pictures NSFW, based on where you function!)
Style Hunter’s Street Guide To The Trouser Suit

As you know, we’ve been snapping away all week at Milan’s menswear shows and to be really frank, we couldn’t give two hoots about what the boys are wearing to the shows – we’re ALL about what the girls have packed. But interestingly adequate, the ladies in attendance do tend to steal from the guys’ wardrobes and take a bit of a sharp sartorial twist for these fashion week looks. Well, it’d be challenging to not be inspired by all of the fabulous suiting on those catwalks and with the Pre-Fall collection nevertheless fresh in a lot of a fashion eds’ thoughts – those baggy mannish suits from Celine et al. are a huge trend on the horizon – it’d be tough to ignore the boy-meets-girl vital of a good suit any longer…
Two ladies in particular caught our eye this time. Both editrix Anna Dello Russo (who we all know is as fond of a excellent trouser suit as she is a totally OTT dress) and Katia Grassi (who functions for Jil Sander’s Navy line) tried out the trouser suit and each succeeded. So why did they get it so proper? Nicely, they kept things straightforward, homochromatic (that is one colour, peeps), with practically zero accessorising and nicely, a totally cool attitude. Oh and heels assist for those of us who do not want to appear too masculine. We’ve picked some pieces to assist you on the way to finding this appear on track – but you’ll have to bring that swagger oneself, ladies…

Four Reasons Why We Love Raoul
07 December 2011 at 15:40

Raoul is a label for the classicist. It’s luxe, timeless, elegant and pretty damn fabulous. It’s the thinking woman’s brand and focuses on the basics of tailoring and the refinement of aesthetics… all lovely but I’m not very refined! I love Ashish and anything that sparkles. Yes I appreciate classics but I’m a grungey girl at heart so I wondered if I could transform my faraway appreciation of the brand into cold hard wardrobe space. I did!
There’s something innately stylish and sophisticated about Raoul pieces that makes you feel like a grown up as soon as you slip into their silks or shroud yourself in one of their leather trimmed capes. There are references to the clean lines and spare tailoring of the late 60’s and early 70’s, a nod to the reinterpreted minimalism of the 90’s that’s so perfect for right now. And for always really!
And it’s not just me and the rest of Grazia girls that are into it; Blake Lively, Elle McPherson and Glee’s Lea Michele are also fans. And hey, if it’s good enough for The Body who are we to argue?!
New arm candy from Celine
Celine‘s own brand of covetable minimalism is as sharp as a pencil and as clean as a new coat of paint. But even beyond that much desired aesthetic, the fashion house’s handbags stand out for their high quality. They look and feel sturdy; functional; roomy. They’re the arm candy that’s smart as well as pretty.
Celine’s spring 2012 handbag collection continues to pay recognition to the success of the ‘Luggage’ tote: a style that’s become a fixture on the arm of the fashion scene. Spring’s new addition is the Luggage Mini in python: with snakeskin of jungle green or camel replacing canvas on the tote’s body. For those not game to dabble in reptile, the Luggage Mini in cream canvas or smooth navy calf are the more classic options.
