Confession: I’m a single of those girls who definitely adores American Idol. I plan my week about watching the show. I adhere to all the contestants on Twitter, and vote religiously each and every Wednesday night. I scour Youtube for obscure videos of my preferred contestants. I even get irrationally angry with my roommate when she deletes an episode off of my DVR without my prior consent! Yeah, I’m a small obsessed.
This year, producers decided to employ fashion mogul Tommy Hilfiger as a consultant to support create the personal style of each and every of the contestants. Style, singing, AND classic reality Television drama? Sign me up! In addition to hearing Jimmy Iovine’s smart incites and the ridiculous banter between judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson, it is been really entertaining to see how each and every contestant’s look has evolved all through the season.

Fashion Inspiration: One Direction

Boy bands are back, and this time around, they hail from across the pond. Formed by Simon Cowell for the 2010 season of the UK X Element, One Direction consists of 5 guys: Niall, Louis, Zayn, Liam, and Harry. The guys entered the competition as solo acts and left as a group, coming in third on the show.
The British and Irish boys are making girls all more than the globe swoon, and they’ve got talent to back it up! You may well have heard their catchy single “What Tends to make You Beautiful” on the radio, or possibly even seen the song’s music video, which is at the moment number a single in the U.S. iTunes shop. Their initial album Up All Night debuted at number one particular on the U.S. Billboard chart, setting a new record for any British band. Following a brief tour co-headlining with Big Time Rush, the boys are scheduled to execute this summer in a full tour across America.

Celebrity Style Deconstructed – Kristen Stewart
Kristen Stewart just may be one of the most recognizable actresses working today, in large part thanks to her portrayal of Bella in the Twilight film series. But she is also well-known for her non-conformist attitude towards her style choices. Unlike many other starlets in Hollywood, she has been known to remove her sky high heels in favor of her trusty black Chuck Taylor lace-ups and she is just as happy in jeans and a t-shirt (maybe even more so) as she is in her red carpet ensembles. Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake help GQ celebrate its Men of the Year
Jay-Z was in the house Thursday night, as was Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon, the entire cast of “New Girl,” a robust representation from “Mad Men” and “Community,” a handful of professional basketball players, and at least half of the “Harold & Kumar” duo (the Harold half — John Cho).
The occasion was GQ magazine’s annual party celebrating its December Men of the Year issue (Jay-Z, Timberlake and Fallon were among GQ’s 2011 honorees), an event that always manages to serve up a constellation of well-dressed Hollywood stars. And this year’s shindig packed so many style-savvy celebrities cheek by jowl into the lobby and garden of the Chateau Marmont that it felt a bit like the Oscars, Emmys and Grammys all rolled into one.
For his part, Timberlake kept things simple, wearing a wool, one-button notch-lapel navy blue suit and white dress shirt — all from the fall 2011 Calvin Klein Collection.
Gilt’s Mad Men sale
There was considerably excitement when Banana Republic announced their collaboration with Mad Men’s Janie Bryant on a collection that would channel the show’s vintage cool. The most frustrating factor about it was the wait, with the collection getting announced a lot of months prior to it would be accessible in shops. The excellent news is that for some the wait is over, with a really limited time sale on correct now at Gilt.com which has several pieces from the collection on supply a fortnight prior to the collection even hits the stores. So all you need now is a gilt invite.

FYI, this isn’t an official Hermes / Vans collaboration. Nevertheless, that does not mean it is not cool.
Whilst collaborations seem to still be fashion’s way forward – cue Lanvin x H&M, Sportsgirl x Antipodium, Jil Sander x UNIQLO – custom created merchandise can be sometimes be even much better. Robert Verdi would know as a super stylish stylist, with designers on speed-dial, take note of his most recent sneakers, for they’re custom created Hermes-print Vans.
Parisian silk scarves and grubby slip-on sneakers are often mutually exclusive. Having the two in one closet seems unlikely, and as for combining the two into an outfit – impossible, non?
