Dakota’s Golden Eyes—and Golden Cause

We’re usually so distracted by Dakota Fanning’s stellar sartorial selections on the red carpet that we forget to check out her makeup—until now. The actress has been lining her eyes with gold recently, 1st at a Tribeca Film Festival party and once again final night, at the DKMS Linked Against Leukemia Gala at Cipriani Wall Street. Fanning, a new face at the annual fundraiser (regulars contain committee members Vera Wang, Anja Rubik, and Solange Knowles), heard about the trigger by way of Coty, manufacturer of her Marc Jacobs Oh Lola! fragrance and corporate charity partner of DKMS, the world’s largest bone marrow registry.
“Oh, no, I had somebody else do my makeup tonight,” said Fanning, smiling modestly, when we complimented her shimmering eye shadow. She ultimately admitted to crafting her exquisite golden eyelids from the week ahead of. “Sometimes I’ll do my own makeup for events,” she stated. “I actually like gold eye shadow—my preferred is this discontinued M.A.C shade, but I also like Topshop’s eye shadow crayon.”
Sitting near Fanning, a couple tables more than, was the event’s honoree, Heidi Klum. Following a moving moment, when a mother met the bone marrow donor who saved her adorable 6-year-old boy’s life (there wasn’t a dry eye in the property!), Klum humbly accepted her award. “What we witnessed on stage right now was really particular. You see these items on television and hear about them but to see it in real life, it truly adjustments you—it changed me, I know,” mentioned Klum, who treated Katelyn D’Entremont, the heroic bone marrow donor, to a fun-filled day in Los Angeles. “I will in no way forget Katey—you can speak about [being a donor] but to in fact do it takes a very unique person.
