Maggie Gyllenhaal has been in little, indie flicks (Secretary), Oscar bait (Crazy Heart), and blockbusters (The Dark Knight), but Hysteria is the very first time she’s been in a film about vibrators. The story follows a Victorian-era doctor as he comes up with a device to help ladies, and ironically he’s not the one particular who is deemed a menace to society—instead, it’s Gyllenhaal’s character, Charlotte Dalrymple, the outspoken crusader for women’s and children’s rights. With her own household growing—her second youngster Gloria was born final month—Gyllenhaal sat down with ELLE.com to speak about how becoming a mother has affected her alternative in films, and why she’s not turned on by most film sex scenes.

ELLE: This isn’t the initial time you are starring in a film that offers with female sexuality. What’s the draw for you?
Maggie Gyllenhaal: I assume everybody’s interested in sex and sexuality. I assume it’s a portion of being human, and film is an interesting spot to explore that, specifically since I think sex has been explored in film in a way that is quite unreal and very a lot based in fantasy. When I see sex scenes in movies that are real and totally free, like my personal encounter of sex, they’re so a lot sexier. I guess it’s a nod of subtle feminism to be able to express it from a woman’s points of view what true sex is like—where it is not like you are wearing a black demi-cup Victoria’s Secret bra and it’s lit perfectly and you are arching your back—it’s not like that!

Kristen Stewart earns her best dressed crown

KRISTENSTEWARTSMILING Kristen Stewart earns her best dressed crownI did warn you that there would be an influx in K-Stew activity! I am sorry, but can you blame me? Appear at her! She looks wonderful! And she’s not wearing black shoes! And she’s SMILING! But seriously, has the lovely Kristen Stewart hired a new stylist for her Snow White and the Huntsman promo tour? Since I’ve by no means observed her look so great, and if she continues down this route, then I might even have to agree with Glamour magazine naming her the best dressed female of 2012.

This 1st photo was taken over the surprisingly sunny weekend at a press conference at Arundel Castle here in England, and it looks as even though Kristen was as delighted with the weather (and the dress) as I was! The 22-year-old opted for a colour popping number from Preen’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection, in which design duo Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi took inspiration from objects about their properties, like teacups and motorcycles. You can virtually see the blue floral lace overlay on a piece of china can’t you? I’m pleasantly surprised at how significantly the bright orange components in the dress suit Kristen’s skin tone, and I absolutely enjoy the royal blue Casadei blade heels – they look so good on K-Stew’s super long legs. In my opinion, the dress looks a lot much better worn without having tights, and fortunately for us, Kristen prefers to show off her pins anyway.

Azealia Banks has captured the focus of Lady Gaga’s stylist Nicola Formichetti, performed for Karl Lagerfeld, and attended the Met Ball with Alexander Wang—all with no releasing an album. That’s soon to be rectified—her first EP, 1991 (immediately after her year of birth), drops digitally May 29 and consists of four tracks: “1991,” “Van Vogue,” the already well-liked “212″ (its video has netted 15 million views), and “Liquorice.” Although Banks appears to be channeling a small Grace Jones on 1991‘s cover, it was Formichetti she tapped to direct her upcoming “Liquorice” music video in London.

Banks is also ramping up to release her Fantastic mixtape this summer—she previewed the initial track off of that, the Calypso-tinged “Jumanji,” final week (listen following the cut). And she’s aiming to release her major label debut, Broke With Expensive Taste, this fall.
