Good news for Oscar De La Renta fans across the UK – the luxurious celebrity favourite is set to open his first store in London right after a 3-year search for the ideal place.
The constructing in query sits on the corner of Berkley Square and Mount Street, and is at the moment occupied by hairdresser Nicky Clarke’s flagship retailer. According to Vogue.co.uk, Clarke (who has occupied the unit for more than 20 years) will move just along the road, in a deal said to be worth much more than half a million pounds.
Each Clarke and the landlord have refused to confirm no matter whether he was paid the reported £500,000 premium to move. Ex-wife and company partner Lesley Clarke told the Evening Common that “Sometimes a brand wants to move to be fresh. If we weren’t content we would not have moved and stayed with the very same landlord. We have come to an amicable, compatible agreement. Grosvenor [the landlord] has produced the move painless but there undoubtedly wasn’t any bribe.”
With rent on the street rumoured to be close to £1 million, it appears like De la Renta is going all out to secure his ideal London pad, and we can not wait to see how the salon is transformed.
