I’ve observed Katey from across the space in numerous classes but didn’t know her name – I just knew her as the girl who was usually dressed up and hunting fabulous. Let’s Talk Fashion
Who or what inspires your style? “I actually like Vanessa Hudgens’ and Rihanna’s designs. And then all the items I uncover on Pinterest. I also truly like Jeffrey Campbell’s shoes and the way girls are dressed in his ads.”
Where do you like to shop? “Urban Outfitters is my favorite, and then of course Forever 21. Also, I work at Aldo Shoes, so I acquire a lot of my shoes there, and there is this cool Portland boutique known as Sloan that I genuinely like.”
How would you describe your sense of style? “I would say it’s a tiny preppy, because I like blazers and polished skirts and dresses, but also a tiny bit hipster simply because I’m into high-waisted shorts, bandeau tops, that kind of thing. I truly like wearing bright pieces, as well – I try to add at least one particular to each outfit.”
Why did you select this distinct outfit? “Well, I bought these shorts particularly simply because I wanted a vibrant solid color instead of a print and I knew they would go with a lot of my other clothes. And I really like these shoes – I had to go to 4 Forever 21 stores till I found them in my size! And it’s finally good once more in Oregon so I had to dress for warmer weather.”
What style advice would you give to other students searching to enhance their style? “Don’t be afraid to try some thing new, you will never ever know if you can pull some thing off until you attempt it!”
What are you favorite trends right now? “Definitely high-low skirts - I just bought one particular the other day and I’m really excited to attempt it out! I also enjoy the corset-like structured tops that truly define the waist, high-waisted shorts, and oxford shoes.”
Who are your preferred designers? “Oscar de la Renta’s dresses are fabulous, and of course I enjoy Jeffrey Campbell’s shoes.”
What do you like to do for entertaining? “I actually take pleasure in sports, so I go to a lot of the games around campus – most recently, baseball. I also try to get involved in the style department, going to the style shows, and I’ve been in the sewing lab a lot not too long ago for my apparel construction class.”
If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be and why? “Rihanna, for positive. I enjoy her style and all the crazy factors she does with her hair!”
