Verify out Raf Simons working the camera! The Artistic Director of Christian Dior takes centre stage for his initial i.D magazine cover shoot, hiding amongst a bed of flowers for Mays ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ edition.Following months of speculation more than who the property of Dior would name as John Galliano’s replacement, Raf has opened up to i.D as he prepares to take very possibly his most significant fashion journey but – the unveiling of his debut Dior collection at Paris Haute Couture Week this July. Styled by market pals Olivier Rizzo and photographed by Willy Vanderperre, Raf celebrates the begin of a momentous new chapter in his life, and indeed his profession, in what appears to be an honest and heartfelt interview.
Raf touches on various crucial markers in his life, which includes his final collection for Jil Sander, which he described as “…really wholesome, very romantic. Type of like when you’re outside, walking in nature. Beauty isn’t constantly apparent you have to search for it. That is what I uncover most romantic.” The man behind the French residence also talks about what inspired him to turn out to be a designer in the initial spot, “Style is not there to educate you, but to challenge you. Occasionally I speak with young youngsters and I have the feeling… not that they have no interest, but that they look at it in a diverse way. This is the reason I chose to do fashion, to create a dialogue and bring men and women together.” Aww, bless.
