Golden Globes 2012: The Best and Worst Dressed From Emma Stone to Kelly Osbourne

Elle Macpherson in Zac Posen
Last night, whilst (most of us) were tucked up in bed, Hollywood’s finest took to the red carpet for the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. Referred to as the dummy run for the Oscars, Grazia Day-to-day pulled an all-nighter in order to see those limo doors fling open to reveal our favourite red carpet dressers. So we’ve seen what they had been wearing, but WHO were the winners in the style stakes? And who got the thumbs down from the Grazia fashion team? Let’s discover out…

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace
Thanks to a dose of beloved Versace, Angelina pulled out all the stops to achieve the ultimate glamazon look. What a treat to see her in a thing that is not a black caftan! Her ivory satin gown was the perfect fit – it beautifully sculpted her slender frame and was given a signature attractive twist with a splash of lipstick red across the neckline. In spite of going house empty-handed, following a nomination for her directoral debut, ‘In The Land of Blood and Honey’, Ange by far won the gong for Greatest Dressed of the night.

Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann
Often one particular of our favourite style stuntwomen, Tilda Swinton looked usually striking in a lilac jacket and skirt appear by her favourite Parisian designer. As the face of Pomellato, Tilda topped off her futurisitic look with jewels from the Italian brand along with a sprinkling from Fred Leighton. It is one certain fire way of perking up the red carpet parade, no?

Freida Pinto in Prada
Frieda Pinto opted for a non-fuss Prada resort gown in a light teal fabric, and the option paid off. The actress looked sophisticated without having entering attempt-tough territory and matched her appear with easy but glossy hair, plus a touch of sparkle from her Chopard jewels. Et voila!

Madonna in Reem Acra
Never a single to shy away from generating an impact, Madge managed to pull off a tricky appear that could easily drown her. It was surely a dramatic option for her initial red carpet look in 14 years and we cannot support but take our hats off to her. Bravo!

Emma Stone in Lanvin
Soon after being voted as one of the Very best Dressed of 2011 by you savvy lot, our eager eyes had been waiting for Emma Stone and she didn’t disappoint. As we’d predicted, the star chose an understated, special and utterly gorgeous gown by Lanvin. Over on Grazia UK’s Facebook page, y’all appear to agree. ‘This is my favourite colour of the season, intriguing and beneath-stated at the identical time,’ says Frankie Parry.

Natalie Portman in Lanvin
Alber Elbaz’s creations were undoubtedly a favourite of the night. The hero of last year’s awards season, Natalie Portman, also chose to wear a dress from the French designer and and ensured she was observed in the sea of nude gowns thanks to an exotic shade of fuschia, polished off with Harry Winston jewels.

Lea Michele in Marchesa
The Glee star is quick becoming a pro at red carpet dressing and last night’s stunner proved she knows how to make a statement – and what a killer body she has! Wearing a silver metallic Marchesa quantity, Ms Michele dazzled whilst flashing the flesh. But the ensemble has divided opinion more than on our Facebook page where Sara Reid argued she looks ‘too tarty’ and ‘too hard’. What’s your verdict?

Dianna Agron in Giles
Lea’s co-star, Dianna Agron, also went the controversial route with a laser-cut gown by one particular of our favourite British designers, Mr Deacon. Each inch of her dress had been painstakingly cut by Giles’ style team and the intricacy is breath-taking. Paired with minimal make-up and a basic up ‘do, plus Fred Leighton jewels, Dianna gets a massive thumbs up from us – and from the designer himself! Giles spoke exclusively to Grazia Everyday this morning: ‘I was thrilled to hear Dianna was to wear the red swan, I’m obviously biased but believed she looked stunning’. Hear, hear!

Evan Rachel Wood in Gucci Premiere
Nominated for her appearance in Television drama Mildred Pierce, the gorgeous ERW glistened in a Gucci Premiere halterneck gown in a deep shade of green, one of the hottest hues at final year’s Golden Globes. In spite of going house empty-handed yesterday, we’re tipping her as a single to watch come Oscars night.

Zoe Deschanel in Prada
Cute-as-a-button actress Zoe Deschanel wore a one particular-of-a-kind Prada dress in fabulously contrasting shades of lime and black. We’re applauding her frock and loving that tuxedo manicure, but the jury’s still out on that flicky bouffant. Are you liking the retroness?
So you have observed our leading picks of the night but, of course, if there are the Ideal Dressed, there are a couple of who left us rather befuddled too. Here are the ladies who raised our sartorial eyebrows…

Sarah Michelle Gellar in Monique L’Huillier
According to Buffy Sarah Michelle, her dip-dyed gown was selected by her two-year-old daughter. Err, we truly couldn’t tell! The actress revealed she had a rack of dresses to decide on from and when her toddler pulled on this gown, her mind was created up. Almost certainly not the smartest move…but it does clarify why her hubby, Freddie Prince Jr, as a no-show.

Michelle Williams in Jason Wu
Uh oh, this outfit has the office torn. Admittedly, Michelle Williams is usually top of the Best Dressed tree thanks to her dolly-like style, but this velvet gown is a tad too underdressed for our liking.

Elle Macpherson in Zac Posen
Dearest Elle, we are such enormous fans of your bouncy, sun-kissed locks and your enviable, surfer girl figure, but THIS is definitely a appear exactly where the sentiment ‘less is more’ was required. There comes a time when big bouncy curls teamed with a Christmas cracker-like frock becomes age inappropriate and a tad too attempt tough.

Kelly Osbourne in Zac Posen
We don’t have anything against Zac Posen, honest, but next up, we give you Kelly Osbourne wearing a custom-created creation from the US designer. Okay, it was a borderline success and we do love the bold blue hue, but NOT with the granny-ish grey hair. It pains us to say it, Kelly, but we can’t assist but agree with your mum. And we in no way believed we’d say that.

Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci
Girl of the moment, Rooney Mara, has been nailing one red carpet hit right after yet another recently, but we hate to say we were left a tiny underwhelmed by this Nina Ricci dress. Yes, it really is a function of art and the gathered tulle, slim-fit gown was accurate to the actress’ goth style and yet the wow-element is missing. Hmph. ‘I liked it since it was very comfy and sort of simple’, Rooney revealed. Fair play.
So c’mon folks, it is time to cast your vote! Get involved beneath…
