If you search for Jason Wu on eBay, you’ll get nearly 11,000 hits.  The designer’s Target collection, which just went on sale this weekend, flew off shelves within hours, but it sounds like the folks knocking down the doors of their nearby Targets had been more interested in acquiring the collection to resell the item, not to put on the French New Wave inspired dresses.  This phenomenon—of acquiring bundles of restricted edition designer collaborations and selling them for double, triple or much more times their cost—isn’t new, but it has become increasingly worse as shoppers view it as an simple way to make an additional buck.   Below, the stats on Wu’s collection for Target—for eBay.

We asked Billy Reid, the CFDA winning men’s and women’s wear designer, to fill in the blanks on our pre-fashion week questionnaire.  His answers, beneath!

I’m looking forward to seeing: What all the editors and our pals are wearing.

When I have a free minute I will: Call house and catch up with my family.

I’m so excited for the world to see: How we’ve been expanding our collection to contain far more tailored, more luxe components and tons of outerwear.

If I did my music I’d play: …it extremely loud! I’m in fact extremely involved in the music choice and production and it is something I enjoy carrying out. We are working on a far more dramatic method, as the show is later in the evening and in a beautiful raw setting.

The party I won’t miss is: The one particular after our show. However, I’m generally so fried following the show that I go into heavy chill mode. Boring!

I will eat this everyday: Take out Thai.

You’ll know I’m exhausted when: When I say, “Just let me rest my eyes right here for 10 minutes.”

My caffeinated beverage of alternative: Think coffee, red-eye, black.

I will not leave home without having: A completely charged iPhone.

My preferred mode of transportation is: Walking, but taxis will be in full force this week. We’re downtown, and most of our sample generating is in the Garment Center, so there’s a ton of back and forth.

Karl Lagerfeld spent his day guest editing Paris’ Metro—why not?!—and presented his thoughts on the greatest news stories of the moment. Chanel‘s designer spoke out on everything from the crisis in Syria to Greek’s failing economy.  There was, of course, pop star commentary, too.  When asked about Lana Del Rey he stated, “I choose Adele and Florence Welch. But as a present day singer she is not bad. The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a tiny too fat, but she has a stunning face and a divine voice. Lana del Rey is not bad at all. She looks quite a lot like a present day-time singer. In her photographs she is stunning. Is she a construct with all her implants? She’s not alone with implants.”

This week, New York Magazine tackled the price of celebrity.  According to the issue, just this year Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have lent their faces to campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Heineken Japan, Tag Heuer, St. Johns, Shiseido, Roots Coffee and Softbank cell phones—among other individuals.  Few celebs have the brand power of Brad and Angie, meaning the much more brands they shill for, the much less they’re worth.  And in a time where a single endorsement deal is by no means sufficient, Jennifer Connelly could be the finest example of a celebrity who’s become a beneficial face with no becoming a household name.

Though Connelly got her begin as a youngster model, she successfully transitioned into an Academy Award winning actress.  Along the way she’s starred in only two advertising campaigns: she was the only celebrity face of Balenciaga, earning her the utmost fashion cred, and signed with Revlon in 2008, earning her a major paycheck.  In the five years because she’s created just 5 films, with two coming out this year—she’s far from ubiquitous.  But this morning, Shiseido announced that Connelly is their new face—their 1st global spokesperson—in honor of the cosmetic brand’s 140th Anniversary.

The actress told WWD, “I’ve had a long connection with Shiseido—I worked with them in the Eighties on an ad campaign, and have been utilizing their goods ever given that.”  Connelly’s original Shiseido campaign is at left, from the very same decade in which she released a couple of Japanese pop songs.  No telling what, if anything, will accompany her print ads this time around, but we’re looking forward to seeing her face—and fashions—more often.
