Last year, Fashion’s Night Out enlisted the Glee cast to drive excitement for the epic shopping evening, but this year, Vogue and FNO are putting their trust in Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber!
The musical duo star in a new teaser in anticipation of September 6th, highlighting each and every little thing you need to know about the biggest shopping night of year. From hanging out with models to partying with designers while getting your shop on, Taylor and Biebs are dressed and ready to celebrate in their brand new FNO tees. While Justin seems a little bit more excited to hang out with the models than shop, both Taylor and Justin take a moment to touch on what’s really important about Fashion’s Night Out: designer support and the charitable aspect. Snag the FNO tee that the stars are wearing, and you’ll directly donate 40% to the New York City AIDS Fund.
Check out the full teaser below and get ready for an endless night of shopping on September 6th!
Somerset, Alice Temperley’s highly anticipated diffusion line for John Lewis, is about to hit stores, and we have a preview of some of the gorgeous clothes, plus a dreamy campaign video that gives you a closer look at what’s coming…
So what can we expect from the first lady of romantic fashion’s first department store line? Lots of black and white, plenty of luxurious detailing, and some amazing outerwear. The cape coat that’s the main star of the video is bound to be a sell-out, and the frilled blouses would be fabulous for making a workwear wardrobe a little bit more interesting.
It’s a shame there aren’t more of the details that we know and love from Temperley’s main line collection like embroidery and beading, art deco inspired cut-outs and embellishment, and a good evening gown, but no doubt those will come for the Christmas party season if this suitably Autumnal range sells well.
The collection hits John Lewis stores and the website from September. We’ll let you know the moment it becomes available.
When I first heard that flash sale site vente-privee was entering the US market in 2012, four years after the market had been glutted with post-recession flash sale sites–many of them offering the same deals on the same brands–I have to admit I was a little wary. After the recession, lots of brands had excess inventory and flash sale sites were the perfect way to offload the excess. Since then, most retailers have been more careful about production so as not to be saddled with extra merch. So even though vente-prive was founded in 2001 and is indisputably the first and biggest ecommerce site of its kind, I had to wonder: Why bring it to the states now?
Earlier this month I had the chance to tour the vente-privee headquarters outside Paris, and I got my answer: Because vente-privee does flash sale ecommerce more creatively, more chic-ly, more exclusively, and just plain better than anyone else. That’s why they have 16 million members in Europe. Let me say that again, because when I first heard that stat my jaw dropped a little: vente-privee has 16 million members in Europe. And I have a hunch, after seeing what goes into producing just one sale on vente-privee, that the site will soon have a few more million members from the US.

In case you needed another reason to go digging through your mother and grandmother’s jewelry cabinets, Fall 2012 provides the perfect opportunity. Brooches are not a dated sign of the past any longer. In fact, they are incredibly popular this season.
Designers such as Oscar De La Renta and Lanvin sent statement-making brooches down the runway for Fall 2012. Even celebrities are getting into the trend: The Duchess of Cambridge, Michelle Obama, and Frida Pinto style theirs classically, while bloggers are rocking them in non-traditional ways and statement-making sizes.
How chic does she look out & about in L.A. with her sleek ‘do & these cool skinnies: The Multi Zip Stiletto in Camouflage from Current/Elliott. Snag her look for day with a slim black tank, some leather flip flops & a two-tone bag that mirrors both the gray color in the jeans & the black of the top. Then, when the sun sets, step out in the same pair of pants, just paired with some notice-me neon brights..and if you’re truly ballsy, eyeshadow to match.

So, this is happening: United Bamboo designed a small capsule collection for Madewell and it hits stores tomorrow.
Considering most collaborations are accompanied with a boatload of buzz–some might even call it hysteria in certain cases (ahem, Missoni for Target)–we’re not sure how this truly awesome one wasn’t on our radar before today. But never mind, now we know–thanks to Lucky, who tipped us off. And we can’t wait.
The five-piece collection, priced between $ 125-$ 350, includes two blouses, two dresses and a coat–all a perfect mix between Madewell‘s preppy-cool style and United Bamboo‘s quirky, intellectual and arty aesthetic. To wit, one of the blouses’ prints comes from a painting by Parisian artist Pier Fichefeux, which he lent exclusively to the brand. Fancy. Read more…
