Jason Wu Does a Fashionably Good Turn
The non-profit YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF) has long helped the fashion community, promoting education of the fashion arts & business by granting scholarships to talented students and facilitating internships, mentorships and career guidance. They recently struck up a relationship with the designer of *that gorgeous one-shoulder white gown* worn by Michelle Obama to the presidential inauguration balls, awarding Wu the Future of Fashion Award at the 2012 YMA FSF Geoffrey Beene National Scholarship Awards Dinner this past January.
And he returned the favor by hosting one of their “Breakfast with the Boss” events where the organizations current crop of interns get the chance to meet and learn from industry leaders & insiders. 16 lucky YMA FSF scholars got the chance to find out more about the designer’s eight years in the business, including advice and fun stories.
Like the fact that prior to catering to big dolls, he designed frocks & fabulousness for lil’ ones. “I don’t know if you guys know this, but I was in a different industry before — I worked in the toy industry for a long time, since I was 16, so I was able to garner a little money to start off my company,” he told the “kids”, adding that the Mrs. O fashion moment that catapulted him onto a global stage was just the beginning. “It was one of the best moments of my life and I’ll never forget it, but it also made me go beyond… I always say it’s like being an actor: You get one big role and then you can’t stop, you need to look for your next big role.”
Ultrabook Style: Pretty in Plum
Summer is all about sleek, chic styles. Your warm weather wardrobe doesn’t have to be based around the beach. I love a look built around colors and trends that transition seamlessly from season to season. For The Ultrabook inspired by Intel campaign Amy Levin of CollegeFashionista.com, Revenge’s Ashley Madekwe, and I were all styled in plum, which is one of this year’s hottest hues. We complemented the color with metallic accents and coordinating shades of red.
My ensemble consisted of a marcasite button down, suede high-waisted shorts, killer burgundy heels, and a platinum tote with my Ultrabook stowed neatly inside. To get the look, complement your computer with these plum pieces and fabulous accessories.
Katy Perry does 90′s rollerdisco!
Ever loveable Katy Perry joined a host of celebrities at a roller rink this weekend to celebrate her stylist’s birthday – and it certainly looks like she had a blast!
As her divorce from Russell Brand finalised yesterday, it’s nice to see that the Fireworks singer took a little time off from promoting her documentary film, Part Of Me, and spent some quality time with her friends. The bubblegum beauty partied at the Moonlight Rollerway in LA with birthday boy and new America’s Next Top Model mentor, Johnny Wujeck, for a night of Nineties themed fun. Wujeck, who is replacing Jay Manuel on ANTM, encouraged his ‘Juan Sweet Roller Skate Party’ guests to dress accordingly, issuing a 90′s dress code via twitter and stating that there would be a trophy for the best dressed. We wonder who won?
Katy skated alongside friend and designer Jeremy Scott, as well as Hollywood celebs such as Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Amber Heard and Zoe Saldana. Although her sunglasses were more 50′s than 90′s, the 27-year-old took the theme seriously; did you expect anything less from the dressing up queen?! Katy opted for a colourful ensemble consisting of a matching floral cropped vest and cycling shorts, washed denim shorts, hoop earrings, stacks of plastic bracelets, a tattoo choker, hair scrunchies, and a purple rucksack filled with Beanie Babies!
Although parts of her attire were a little too 90′s for me to handle (if the choker ever comes back, I think I’ll cry) the majority of the look was bang on trend. The decade that brought us cropped tops, creepers and tie-dye is still influencing the way we dress at the moment, and looks as though it will continue to do so for the rest of the year. Here’s how to rock Katy’s roller disco look – without going overboard!
First Look: Lady Mary’s Love Cover

Deciding which Love cover to buy when Issue 8 comes out is going to be nearly as difficult as deciding among Elle Fanning, Hailee Steinfeld, Chloe Moretz (and all those models) last year.
When Downton Abbey Stars Jessica Brown Findlay and Rob James Collier (aka Lady Sybil and Thomas Barrow) were revealed as cover stars, we thought a Michelle Dockery (aka Lady Mary) cover might surface at some point and now it has! Love tweeted this sneak peek early this morning with the note “LOVE #8 Cover preview 2 – Downton Abbey’s Lady Mary by Mert and Marcus.”
Dockery is a far cry from her traditional, demure Downton character, styled with blue hair and zombie-like pale skin. Also, see below for a closer look at Lady Sybil’s gorgeous cover. Does she look prettier than her sis Lady Mary? Is that allowed?
Beauty Video Tutorial: Reinvented “Pop of Color” Eye Look
One of the best ways to spice up a plain makeup look is by adding a pop of color. Traditionally, you see a pop of color across the lower lash line or applied to the upper eyelid as seen in our bright yellow eyeshadow tutorial.
This week, I decided to re-invent the “pop of color” look and put my own CollegeFashion spin on it. This look is perfect for dates, nights out, etc. The best part is, you don’t have to use yellow – you can always substitute in your favorite color!

First Look: There Are Tiny Little Men Crawling All Over Naked Lady Gaga in Her Super Creepy New Fragrance Campaign

It has been a long time never that a fragrance campaign provoked such a strong reaction in me. But leave it to Gaga.
Here is the Steven Klein-lensed campaign for Lady Gaga Fame, her new black-but-turns-clear-and-smells-like-belladonna-and-maybe-sperm fragrance. In it, Lady Gaga reclines nude while what appears to be tiny little buff men scramble all over her. Her Little Monsters?
Lady Gaga tweeted the pic after prefacing it with this statement:
Lady Gaga releases ad for her new Fame fragrance

I am sure you have been reading all about Lady Gaga’s new fragrance over at our sister blog, Kiss and Makeup. No? Shame on you (kidding!) Now here is our first look at the advertising campaign for her new scent, Fame.
Being Gaga we always knew the campaign for her fragrance was going to be a little off-beat, and she’s come through with the goods! The songstress stars in the campaign by lying on her side, completely naked except for a black mask covering half of her face. In one hand she is holding a gold-topped bottle of her new perfume, while her other hand is stretched out behind her head. All over her milky white body little action figure men crawl all over her bits. Is she trying to suggest that fame means hordes of people trying to claw at you all at once? This makes sense in a Gaga sort of way.
The black-and-white campaign was photographed by Steven Klein, who also directed her ‘Alejandro’ music video. While she’s not afraid to get her kit off, or wear nothing but a meat dress, Gaga did admit on Twitter that she was a little apprehensive about releasing the ads.
